What the difference between 1-1/8 vs 31/32

1 1/8" and 31/32" are the distances from key hole to edge of door and of course There is no difference except the weight, 1 1/8" backset weighs 2 pounds, and 31/32" weighs 1.65 pounds. Other than those two facts, to my knowledge there isn't much of a difference.
