Well worth the money
It goes without saying I already had the basic Lansky set of diamond hones so this is used in conjunction with them. I want to get beyond the 'normal' edge that you get when sharpening a knife or buying one new. To me, a knife - almost every knife - must be as sharp as possible, especially my penknife and my kitchen knives. You definitely don't want a cut from a blunt edge. The Ultra Fine hone gives the blade a really sharp edge. I then go on to a final edge using the Super Sapphire Hone which takes the edge into wickedly sharp territory and that's what I want (High carbon steels give the best edge but you can get a really good edge on most stainless steels). Cutting meat and vegetables is so easy now. The only way to get an even better edge is to buy a Lansky Leather Stropping hone and I'm thinking of doing exactly that ........

I found that longer knives are better to do in two parts
These have given some really ordinary knives a bit of an extraordinary keenness. However, I found that longer knives are better to do in two parts. The angles get smaller the further the hones are away from the jig that holds the knife. It is better to keep the angle similar throughout the process. Hence, better to break the job into parts. There are enough rods to set all the required hones up first, then get into the task of sharpening. A good product.

Consistent
I’ve just made a jig for the Lansky stones as I was sharpening bigger blades than the supplied clamp could hold securely. Works brilliant but once again the stone in my diamond stone has come out of the holder. It’s a pain and seems to happen regularly to other customers. For the price It’s a letdown on an otherwise good product.

Provides a glassy finish to the blade
Provides a glassy finish to the blade. It's like a tiny mirror along the edge of the knife. Not cheap, but if you want to squeeze that last drop of perfection out of your sharpening there's no substitute for a quick finish on this.

Good stone leaves an amazing edge but the stone came ...
Good stone leaves an amazing edge but the stone came off the plastic housing so now I need to buy some glue that. Would have been 5 stars otherwise
