Lasky Ultra Fine Hone!
I recently bought a Lansky Diamond Deluxe system along with the metal stand and two extra hones, the Ultra Fine and the Super Sapphire. This review is about the Ultra Fine Hone which is simply amazing. I use the Ultra Fine right after Im done with the Diamond Hones (Extra Coarse, Coarse, Medium, Fine) and it cleans up the edge and gets it ready for the Super Sapphire. With this system I can Repair, Reprofile, Sharpen, and Mirror Polish my knives so they look and cut like a dream. Its unbelievable how much work each of these hones does on their own, just this Ultra Fine Hone alone removes all grit lines and scratches left by the diamond hones. It makes the edge smooth and clean, and makes it easier to finish the Mirror Polish with the Super Sapphire. The best part about this entire system, it can sharpen ALL my knives, from my small pocket knives, medium and large kitchen knives, thick fixed blade hunting knives, EDC folders made of the latest super steels, and my recurves! I would highly recommend this Ultra Fine Hone and the Entire Lansky Diamond Deluxe System with the Metal Stand and Super Sapphire Hone.

Good addition to the 3-stone kit
I bought the standard 3-stone Lansky kit, and while it handles 90% of my knife sharpening, this 1000 grit stone is a good addition for certain blades where you want a finer edge. It’s very hard and should last a long time.

Great Addition to My Lansky Kit
Bought this to enhance my kit and add a good hone. Now have a complete set and works great. This gets that fine hone (before stropping) to ensure a razor-sharp edge. Works great.

Nice honing stone, excellent for putting on that hair-splitting edge
Ok, this stone isn't included in most of the Lansky kits. But if you're buying a Lansky kit, you should buy this stone. It's one step past the fine stone, and is listed as being 1000 grit. It works great for putting a fine polish on the bevel of the knife edge. Usually this is the last step of the sharpening process. Of course, there is one more level of stone, the Sapphire at 2000 grit. But realistically this is as fine a stone as most people need.Tip #1: If you buy a Lansky kit, buy this stone as an accessory.Tip #2: The guide rods are not included when you buy individual stones. The stones are available from the Lansky site, 4 rods for 2 bucks.Tip #3: The holes in each Lansky stone are at slightly different angles relative to the hone surface. Align the rod to an individual stone, and leave them assembled. It'll save on fiddling when you reassemble the stones and rods later.

This is where it's at if you want to get a razor's edge on your knives
This is where it's at if you want to get a razor's edge on your knives. I never was that interested in super sharp knives (hubby always was) until I got more involved in cooking and tried to de-bone a whole chicken with what I now consider a dull knife. It was exasperating. I purchased my husband a diamond Lansky set for Father's day, with a this ultra fine hone and super sapphire hone,as well as medium and fine serrated hones. With this and the sapphire he has been able to sharpen up our ridiculously dull knives to a super fine edge. Sadly, I've discovered we need better knives, since these cheap ones won't hold an edge. We did buy one very good knife and hope to grow a collection, and are happy to have these Lansky hones to keep them razor sharp.
