I have never had a problem with this product
I see that this product does not get good reviews which is why I am writing one. I have been using the Zodiac Spot On Plus Flea and Tick for years on my cat (he is 9yrs old now) and I have never had a problem with it. Of course I don't wait until my cat has fleas to put it on him. I generally start in March or April depending on the weather and put the last application on in November, again depending on the weather. He has never had fleas and he has never had ticks while using this product. Although there might be a better (but more expensive) product available I continue to stick with this product because I know it works for my cat and he has never had a reaction to it. It is also reasonably priced. Yes, it is greasy, but all flea and tick products are greasy. It might hang around a little longer on his fur than other products but after a few days I have taken a wet cloth and cleaned his fur. In my opinion... pet owners should not wait until their pet has fleas or ticks to start the product. It should be started when your flea and tick season starts. Also, not all products are going to work for all pets. Fortunately for me this product works for my cat and I will continue using it until the company stops selling it. I would recommend this product to a friend.

Worst. Flea. Medicine. Ever.
Do not cheap out on your pet meds. I've learned a huge lesson. I have four cats, and use flea and tick meds for good measure, and one of them had fleas before I applied this product (and still does).First off, the grease slick on my cats' necks was as big as my entire hand and lasted for four days. (Put your hand just behind your cats head and that is the size of the spot) They probably loved washing that off. So, typically flea meds will make my cats a little jumpy for a couple hours after, but this stuff had them absolutely skittish. Afraid of most everything, noises and just my trying to touch them.If I could I would sue for damages, pain and suffering, but cats can't spend money. Terrible, terrible stuff. And, on top of all that I read on the box that it is for one month protection, not three like the higher priced item. Also, the fleas are alive and well on the one cat that had fleas, and no sign of death for them. If it doesn't kill the fleas it probably (probably) won't kill the cats.

MESSY
This product does seem to keep the fleas & ticks; however my cats don’t go outside & didn’t have either when the product was applied. The applicators shaped like cats are cute but left a mess on my cats’ necks. The smaller of my two cats had glopped-up fur on her neck for several days. I wonder if the solution is safe for my cats to lick since it does spread past the area to which generally apply similar products.

Recommend this topical with some reservations
Since fipronil stopped working, I have switched to several different flea remedies for the cats...each one worked for a time and then stopped as the fleas became resistant. This topical works. Not drop dead in 24 hours works, but within 48 hours there were no adult fleas, the cat shed tons of dead eggs and larvae. Highly recommend if certain other products stop working. The only downside is that some cats experience very nasty side effects from this. Their fur may fall out in patches, they may throw up, be sleepy and a little disoriented. I have not had that problem, but would recommend close observation of your cat the first few days after applying...then a nice bath to remove all dead flea debris after 4-5 days. It may work for a month or only 3 weeks. Depends on your situation.

Works fast and spared my cat much scratching and misery. Strong scent that cat did not like.
My poor cat was suffering from serious flea infestation that would not go away with much flea comb use. Finally decided to try the anti-flea application. Within 6 hrs cat was happy and not scratching himself to death. Three days later he occasionally scratches but when i use the flea comb maybe 1 flea at best.I could not detect significant smell but the cat clearly did not like it . Following the directions he could not-lick it off and did not want to paw it off and then lick his paws. Its nice to not have to de-flee with a comb 3x a day and still loose the battle. Most definitely recommended.

The cost isn’t worth the price
Definitely do not recommend.I was using this product on two stray cats who make their home in my backyard. I’ve worked in stray rescue and care for 7 years, and had my own pet cats my entire life. Additionally, I read directions. Always. The third month of treating I noticed one of the cats acting like I was going to hurt him and he refused to be treated, his normally very friendly behavior becoming hissy and he eventually bolted. I was petting the other cat a few days later and noticed he’d developed scabs where he’d been treated. I immediately washed off the remaining residue on his fur and skin and treated the area with chlorhexidine for a week to heal it up.

THIS STUFF WORKS
This is the only kind I buy and it works wonderfully. I take care of stray cats that are well, mine now, and they had fleas and ticks especially being outside cats most of the time. It works really quick and I saw dead ticks on the floor that I didn't even know were on the cats since I checked them every day. But with all animals, they're different, so what works for my animals might not work for yours. I care for 8 stray cats and none have had a reaction to it which is really important because I didn't use another certain brand due to hearing about all the interactions on cats skin due to that certain brands products. I know two people personally who had a cat with a bad reaction to hartz guard. So guard yourself....I recommend this because it is SPOT ON. :)
