Perfect Gift For The Cook Who Has Everything
If you are looking for a gift for the cook that has everything this is it! My brother-in-law is the cook that has every kitchen gadget ever made you, but he was so thrilled when we gave this to him for his birthday. I saw this same kit on other websites and it was much more expensive so not only was this a thoughtful gift but we got it at a great price. Can't wait to get invited over for another fantastic dinner. I highly recommend this product from this seller.

A great introduction to molecular gastronomy
I ordered this product for my younger brother as a Christmas gift. Luckily, he opened it right away and I got to try it out :-)We adapted one of the recipes from the kit to suit the ingredients on hand and within the hour we were eating chocolate noodles and banana yogurt spheres. This was both fun and educational. Probably not a kit I would use regularly for routine cooking, but I can see how this is going to be a lot of fun for the right crowd at a dinner party.

Fun, but wish there was a print instruction book
I bought this and the cocktail version of the kit. They have been fun to play with, in fact I bought another of this one as a gift. The instructions are only found on a DVD. I wish there was also a paper copy (or something I could print from the DVD) as I have had to click on each recipe to see what it was all about. I have also gone to the company's web site and found several other recipes that we have tried. Some of the recipes were easy and tasted great (balsamic caviar was wonderful). Others were either flops because they didn't work as well as they did on the DVD or they tasted horrible. We were particularly disappointed in the mango/yogurt eggs. We had trouble getting the mango to set like the video showed, but managed to get a few reasonably attractive "eggs". There were not nearly enough for the number of people we were serving, but nobody wanted to eat more than one forkful. Maybe we will try that one again and see if we get better results. 5 stars for fun, 3 for actual results.

A great find!!
My nephews loved this, and I think the adult had more fun than the kids. A very cool kit!

Please, Play With Your Food
I bought this product because my grandson (12 years old) is interested in cooking. It was a wonderful project for the two of us to work on. And it taught him a bit about chemistry, too! Most important, we could eat the results! It was great fun!The negatives are few but important: you really need an immersion mixer to complete some of these recipes properly. And the directions are on a DVD (provided), so you need a DVD player near your kitchen or you need to take some notes in advance.

Received Molecular Cuisine by accident -- I bet the cocktail one is just as good, if not even better
Product arrived on time, in great shape...except I ordered the Mixology Kit (as shown in my Amazon online record and on the packing slip) and received the Cuisine one, instead. It was too late to do a return/exchange (that will teach me to wait til the last minute to do my holiday shopping), and the Cuisine one seemed cool (just not quite AS cool as the cocktail one), so I just wrapped it up. I'd have gotten the Cuisine if the Mixology had been out of stock, and the person who received it as his Christmas gift seemed very pleased and was eager to try it out at his next dinner party, so I guess all's well that ends well?

No Cookbook and videos you can find online for FREE!
I bought this kit hoping to learn about Molecular Gastronomy and make a few of the dishes... I was very disappointed. There is no cookbook in the kit and no explanation of how the techniques work. The kit contains a DVD which you have to watch, then write down the ingredients and amounts, and then go back into your kitchen and make the dish. Also, the DVD just contains a headless chef and music, no voice explaining what is done or why it all works, and best of all... you can find these same videos online for FREE!Instead I recommend this kit: At Home Molecular Gastronomy Kit It costs a bit more, but contains a cookbook and more food additives than this kit.

A comprehensive Introduction To Gastronomy
This French gastronomy kit is presented in an appealingly modernistic style, and the DVD presents the methods necessary to execute the various recipes very clearly. Many of the methods presented vary between simple and moderate difficulty, however, for techniques such as spherification, ensure that the liquid base that is mixed with calcium lactate is more dense than the sodium actinate solution ie. does not contain air bubbles. On the whole it is good use of the chemicals provided in the kit, with te limited tools available from the kit and in the average persons kitchen.
