Brilliant tool
I had never heard of a Shinto file/rasp until a friend recommended buying one. The tool is not cheap but my goodness it’s well made and does what it’s supposed to do remove, material, no problem.Highly recommended!Great seller order arrive promptly.

Excellent rasp
I do appreciate a bit more expensive than a lot of rasps on the market but it really is worth the money.Well made strong and does what it says on the tin.Easy to flip sides from rough and smooth teeth. With firm pressure you can remove a lot of wood using the rough side and with a more delicate touch and using the smoother teeth you can get a fairly good finish that only needs a bit of sanding to make it acceptable.I would whole heartedly recommend this product.

Beast of a tool. Take care your fingerprints!
This is an awesome tool worthy of its price and some respect. It does exactly what it says it does, that is, chew through wood like its not there. The two grades are good for removing and smoothing your work before hitting it with some sandpaper. A word to the wise though. The teeth are sharp and after a while, if you aren't careful, you'll notice that your fingertips start to fray. I wrapped some tape around the end to prevent it rasping away my fingerprints. But, that is a minor consideration faced with the fact that these are a beast of a tool. Love it, love it, love it.

Aggressive little beast
Love it, the coarse side really removes wood and the smoother side leaves a finish that does not require too much work thereafter. One of my better buys

Shinto wood rasp - a simple but efficient hand tool.
After using this for the first time wish I had bought a Japanese Shinto Rasp years ago. It removes hard and soft wood in a controlled but effortless manner. Also, a distinct advantage over other wood rasps I have is it has a coarse and a fine grade on opposite faces of the same tool. I have also found its size, weight and shape to be very useful and easy to manipulate. The arrangement and depth between the cutting surfaces prevents the tool from clogging and after use it is very easy to clean.I am so impressed with the rasp, and the very competitive price, that I have immediately ordered another one for my son.
