Strong Sound, Weak Battery
These are the best open-ear buds I have ever used. Considering I have small ears and wear glasses, I found these and the Bose clips to be the best options when researching open-ear buds. The other open-ear buds I own, such as the Tozo and Truke Liberty models, were uncomfortable with glasses, and when used without glasses my ears would begin to hurt after about two hours. I used these buds for a month before returning them. The return process took a while because I initially requested a replacement. However, the same problem persisted, so I had to return them. I was very excited about these headphones because I had been waiting for their release in India for a year. I tried importing them from the USA or Canada, but that was expensive. Here are the pros:1. The sound quality is very nice. I used them the most because of their functionality. Being able to listen to songs without compromising sound quality while also paying attention to your surroundings is a win. I never had to go beyond 40% volume at home and around 85 to 90% outside in traffic.2. Charging them is the best aspect. The earbuds charge to full in about 30 minutes, and the case charges in around 40 minutes or so.3. The fit is very comfortable. You would not realize you are wearing them right after putting them on. They are very lightweight. I wish other open-ear headphone manufacturers would learn how to achieve this. There are times while working when I receive a call and then realize I am wearing them.4. The earbuds and case feel premium. The case is also super light and small.5. There are many customization options in the app. The equalizer settings are good enough for open-ear headphones.6. Configurable gesture settings are a boon. The earbuds are tiny, so unlike other earbuds, the area available for tap gestures is less and takes a while to get used to them. The possibility of configuring the gestures eases the getting-used-to period. Here are the cons:1. Battery life – this is where I was disappointed. They claim to last around 8 hours. I have never achieved that with either the initial earbuds (which had been updated to the latest firmware) or the replacement earbuds (which I did not update to check if the update was draining the battery). I even disabled unnecessary settings from the Huawei app. I wish they lasted at least 6 hours with the 40% volume I use.2. The Huawei app is not available on the Google Play Store. I had to download it by following a tutorial from YouTube and using a VPN. It is not a big issue, but it is nevertheless a bad way to download and install an app.I am very satisfied with the sound, but the battery drain is a big drawback. Even with minimal usage, I had to put them back for charging after 3 and half to 4hrs. It would not have been an issue if they were not my primary set of earbuds.
