Tough Trail Runners & Incognito Travel Shoes for Wide Feet
Great trail running shoes that can fit lots of other uses. I’ll be taking these on international trips in place of my Hokas because they are lower profile but have the traction and width that I need to walk or hike comfortably. These are replacing my Salomon’s because unfortunately, their width is just not enough for me and I get hotspots. Not with these shoes. I was initially worried about the ‘foot shape’ coming off as awkward looking, but they look great.

Dozens of miles right out of the box
Took these shoes straight out of the box and then proceeded to climb all around Enchanted Rock in Austin, TX and biked Spider Mountain and put many miles in rugged terrain on these shoes. The grip was fantastic, the look is great, and the fit is perfect. I am used to zero drop shoes, so I had no problem with these and believe they're better for your Achilles and feet anyway. I have only had them for a few days so i can't speak for the durability, but they held up over 3 days of rough days in the mud, heat, and rain. Would buy again.I did not buy these as running shoes, so I can't speak to that aspect of them. But as low profile, grippy trail shoes, wonderful!

Excellent trail shoes. The 9's are a big improvement over previous Lone Peak models.
Love what Altra has done with the 9's. Better grip in the heel, better lateral stability. To be fair, I'm returning to the Lone Peaks after several years away. I think my last pair were 4 or 5's.I hear the 9 is also their most durable generation yet. Can't speak to that, but they are the most comfortable Lone Peaks I've owned and perform very well on trail - great grip and very nimble.

Some of the best shoes ever
I have been wearing the Altra Lone Peak model since Lone Peak 4. Now on 9 they still feel amazing when I wear them. The toe box is what I love the most. I wear a pair for everyday and a pair for hiking. My go to shoe. They are also a zero drop shoe, which I prefer.

Altra Lone Peak 9 – Big Foot’s Dream Shoe
Just laced up the Lone Peak 9s and honestly... my feet might start paying rent. These things are roomy like a studio apartment in the forest. Slightly longer and wider than past versions — and that’s exactly what my size 13.5 feet needed. I usually live in shoe limbo (too small or clown-sized), but the size 13s here? Chef’s kiss. Perfect fit.Zero drop + max comfort = I’m basically gliding over roots, rocks, and regrets. If you’ve got flipper feet like me, the Lone Peak 9s are the trail soulmate you didn’t know you needed.

Incredible shoe
I bought this for a trip to Yellowstone and now they are my favorite trail / hiking shoe. Very comfortable, no rise, quick drying, flexible yet protective.

Fall Risk
Irritating heal extension. Possible fall risk. This might be my error in ordering these. They are running shoes and I’m not a runner. They have a heel/sole extension of approximately 1/4” in the back. I’m sure this was designed for stability while running. It’s become a hindrance. Wearing them while driving they catch in the carpeting and I became concerned that these shoes could hinder a rapid exchange from gas pedal to the brake. This made it difficult to enter and exit the car. The heel extension catches on stairs while descending. Today I went down the steps on my deck. The shoes caught the step and I started to fall but was able catch myself to avoid an accident. I couldn’t return the shoes as there is only a 1 month return period. I cut the heel extensions off with a razor knife. I hated to butcher a fine pair of shoes but it was necessary.

Bought on a whim, but will continue to buy
I bought these on a whim to try a new style of running shoe. I had been running in ALTRA Men's Olympus 5 Trail shoes for the last two years. I used them for a few half marathons, hiking , some trail runs, and my gymShoes. After trying on these shoes I regret not trying the Lone Peaks earlier. While I have no complaints about the Olympus 5s the Lone Peaks are so much lighter, comfortable , and feel much better. They are light and flexible. I didn’t require any break in period. They seem to conform to my feet better while still having the large open toe box. I wear a size 12 and ordered the 12 and have zero issues after about 25 miles put on them running. So to me the size runs true. Lastly I am a person who does not like flashy shoes and I am rather dull in the sense that I prefer a nice black or matte black shoe with no shiny plastic or anything like that. So the lone peak offering a fairly basic black lone peak made me very happy. I will be recommending these shoes to anyone who asks my opinion on gear.
