Spancraft Clear Floating Glass Shelf 8" X 42" in Chrome

I have been looking for the perfect shelves/shelving unit for our salon wall to display tanning lotions and other merchandise. I came across these shelves and decided to give them a try.I ended up ordering 3 & 4 of each length available on their site. When they arrived, I was a little concerned because I didn’t realize they would have a slight green tint. My error-I thought they were clear. Turned out to be my benefit as they are stronger than the clear glass I had previously! So glad I ordered them after all! They are perfect!Packaging was Great! I had expected, with such a large order, for at least one to have an issue! NOTHING WAS DAMAGED!!They are just the right width (6”) and the glass thickness is amazing. All edges are nicely finished; no rough or sharp spots. The brackets that hold the shelves are a nicely finished quality, and easy to install! Very, VERY pleased with this entire purchase! Can you tell??? lolSome may think they might be a little pricey, but after months of trying to find the “perfect shelves,” these were well worth every penny spent. Honestly, they were cheaper than other places I have looked; and their quality is much nicer!We have one more to install on this wall. I loved them so much, I’m keeping the extras, and will find a place in our salon to install them!😊

I wanted a small shelf to install on the framework of a wood plant-light cabinet, to hold my coffee next to a reading chair. Space is tight, so nothing too cumbersome. This shelf is the perfect size, sturdy, simple, and elegant. No problems installing it, although I had to use screws that were shorter than the ones that came with it, not a big deal. I'm very happy.

So these are pretty good shelves. I'm not using them anywhere near the recommended weight limits of 80lbs in studs or 60 lbs with toggle bolts. However, the one thing I will say is that if you intend to use them towards their weight capacity then you should know that the weight limits are for the BRACKETS which come in separate packaging. The glass itself (10x36 for these) probably weigh around 15-20 pounds so keep that in mind for planning purposes.It is obviously easier to install them into studs. I ordered two. The first one went into studs and was pretty straightforward. The second one did not have studs for me to use. I originally tried using drywall anchors and after installing it, didn't find it to be stable enough. So, I used toggle bolts afterwards (which for the record, is what is recommended per the instructions) and it was much more secure.As others have stated, you really get one chance to install the actual glass into the brackets with the adhesive backing. For the second shelf I installed, the glass was already inserted so I had to remove it. What I did to fix this issue afterwards is I used some Scotch heavy duty 20 lbs adhesive tape and that worked well.

I’ve had this shelf up for a sthort while now and it’s made a huge difference! I put all my little kitchen plants on it to clear some space, and it’s looked so pretty and is very sturdy and easy to instal.

Though the brackets technically work, they're made for much thicker glass which causes the glass to cantilever and not lie flat. A ball bearing or lipstick tube or anything round or tubular will roll right off the shelf. A substantial amount of rigging is required to make them function as you would hope for the shelf to maintain a 90 degree angle. The brackets are all the same size whether you buy a 6" or 10 wide shelf. At these prices, these shelves should come with brackets specific to the product and designed to work as you would reasonably expect. Glass is great, but an overall disappointing product. I would not purchase again.
