Impressive shaver
My dad used Norelco rotary shavers for decades, and I've used them for 30+ years along with also trying various foil shavers and other brand rotary shavers. I've found that for me rotary shavers work better than foil shavers, and it's hard to go wrong with Norelco. Most recently I've been using a Norelco Sensotouch 1150X, and the plastic covering over the power button was starting to crack and fall off, so it was time to get a new shaver. I'm actually pretty impressed with this shaver. It is larger than I'm used to, but lightweight. Since it's larger, it's easier to pick up and hold onto. Also, I don't find myself accidentally bumping the power switch and turning off the shaver while using it.There's a push button under the front head to release the heads from the shaver, plus the back heads are hinged to the shaver. I've found this to be super convenient when dumping shavings and rinsing the shaver. No more trying to pull off the head and get it aligned and snapped back on. Being waterproof is another plus. I find it easier to rinse off the shavings vs. using a small brush, and rinsing gets the shaver cleaner too. I don't shave in the shower or try to use shaving cream with an electric shaver, so I don't need the waterproof feature for that. I just like to be able to rinse the shaver. The pop-up sideburn trimmer is convenient and works well; it's fairly wide. Norelco used to have that then got rid of it for a while, so it's nice to see it's back. It's great having a display that shows percent charge remaining, and it's nice that the shaver will stand upright in the base, even while charging, so it take up less space on my counter. I can also charge without using the base if I want. the shaver makes a sound and the light ring flashes when the shaver connects to the charger, so I know that it's charging. The case is good for traveling; seems to protect the shaver well. Having a travel lock feature is great since I do travel. I've had shavers and trimmers come on in my toiletry bag while traveling and run down the battery, which was bad since I intentionally didn't bring a charge cable. The lock is easy to turn on/off with the button under the power button. The display even confirms that the shaver is locked/unlocked.I didn't even know there's such as thing as shaver cleaner liquid much less a shaver cleaner system. It's easy enough to use. I pop open the shaver and rinse it, then close it and put it in the cleaner. I don't think the shaver really needs to be sanitized, but I'm guessing the liquid really does add some lubrication as the instructions say.And lastly the shave is great. The heads are really flexible, and the shave is better than my old Norelco shaver. The pressure-sensitive light ring is something I don't really need, but it's neat. There is an option to turn the light ring off, but I'll leave it on.Overall I'd recommend this shaver.

So Far So Good!
I've owned a number of electric shavers over the years. My most recent shaver is a Norelco "Architec" series that I've had for quite a few years. I've been very happy with that shaver, and wouldn't even consider replacing it except that the replacement heads have become increasingly difficult to find, and prohibitively expensive. I had tried a couple after market, nameless replacement blades, and cannot recommend them. They pulled and stretched, and the shave quality is simply not there. So I came across this Philips Norelco Series 9000 Shaver, and decided it was worth a shot.I've now used the 9000 for a couple days, and have been quite pleased. The shave quality is fantastic! The 9000 glides effortlessly over most of my face, and gives a shave remarkably close shave. In my opinion, it's as close as you'd get with a straight razor. According to the owner's manual, the 9000 will fully charge in about an hour, you can charge it enough for one shave in about five minutes, and you should get about 10 shaves out of a full charge. So if you're traveling for a weekend, or even a week, you shouldn't need to bring the charger with you. Speaking of the charger, it is a sleek disk that supports the shaver in an upright position. Really nice! The 9000 also comes with a nice hard zippered carrying case, great for travel. You also receive the Norelco "Quick Clean Pod". The instructions don't specify how often you should use it, but do tell you how long the solution cartridges will last if you're cleaning your shaver daily, a few times a week, weekly or monthly. So I guess it's at the owner's discretion. The shaver comes with four cleaning cartridges, and you can buy more from Norelco, using their app. Personally, my electric shaver has never required sanitization, and I really don't see why this one should. I'll probably try it out, but doubt that I'll use it long term. This shaver has a ton of additional functions. I do love the light ring, which tells you if you're applying too much, too little, or the correct amount of pressure when shaving. I also like the pop-up trimmer. Bluetooth connectivity seems a bridge too far for my electric shaver. Is it going to message me during the day to tell me it's time to shave?? Lol. I really don't see any need, and probably won't bother to connect it.All in all, the Philips Norelco Series 9000 is a really nice shaver that gives a really close shave, and provides you with a bunch of additional options. I am very pleased so far. I would recommend it.

very nice razor, smooth shave, comes with cleaner and fluid
Update: After using this razor for a month I can say that it does shave smoother and faster than the Braun. It has long battery life. I've been using the cleaning stand as my everyday, counter-top stand for the razor and it work well....doesn't take up much space. All these are improvements over my initial review. However, there is one significant weakness that remains....the mustache/sideburn trimmer is about worthless. I have trouble getting it to grab and cut even a single whisker. It's too bad because, if the trimmer worked, this razor would be leaning towards a five star rating. (see the original review below). This Norelco razor is very nice and there is a lot to like about it...and some things that are less likable. It comes as a complete kit....everything you need. It has a charging. base or the charging cord can just be plugged straight into the razor. It has a nice travel/storage case and a little cleaning brush. It also comes with a separate cleaning station and four containers of cleaning fluid....enough for a full year according to the manual. All good stuff. On top of that, I get a nice, close shave with it.The razor runs quietly and is comfortable to hold and to use. It does take a little getting used to just HOW to use it but that is true of any new razor. One thing I do like, is that the razor has indicator lights around the head that show when you are applying the best amount of pressure....not too light or too much. It is helpful. The cleaner works well and only takes one minute (see video), though I don't care for the way it is designed. Once you manage to get the cleaning fluid open and into the cleaning unit you have to be careful handling it or it will leak everywhere....you can't tilt it or slosh it. Also, Norelco really wants to keep you buying their cleaning fluid so they say you should not refill the containers...just buy new ones. Well, I have always refilled my Braun unit with a mild cleaner myself and will do the same with this Norelco. There are a few things that I don't care for. The razor doesn't come with a protective cover for the heads and I wish it did. To protect the heads you really need to store it in the case which means you also have to take it out of the case every time you use it. Or, you can store it on the counter in the cleaning unit. Contrast this with my old Braun razor that sits in the charger with the razor heads facing downward and well protected. The Braun charger is also the cleaning unit so there's just the one piece to keep track of. I don't know why Norelco didn't combine the charging stand and the cleaning unit into one piece....again, I wish they did. This new Norelco razor came with one little manufacturing flaw. There was a very sharp, abrasive shard adhered to the side of one of the heads. I was able to break it off with my fingernail but it left a small mar on the side of the head. No biggie....just a minor quality control problem. (see photo)Finally, this razor comes equipped with bluetooth for syncing with an APP. Really?? Now I need an APP to see my shaving experience? Oh, and to get 'great offers' from Norelco?? I will not be using the bluetooth or the APP, and wish that Norelco had not gone to the trouble and just saved the customers some money. It may not sound like it, but I do think that this is a good razor and that it gives a good shave. Is it any better than the Braun? Nope, but it is just as good...and quieter.

Great functionality, very easy to use, but with a very expensive price tag
I got this "Philips Norelco Shaver Series 9000, Wet and Dry Electric Shaver" for my son and he told me this is the best electric shaver he has used. The good:- Very smooth shaving experience that the header is flexible enough to move over the face.- Travel friendly, comes with a portable and nice travel case.- Cleaning + charging at the same time, which is very neat. A time-saving feature!Other thoughts:- It is also the most expensive electric shaving I've got.A solid 4-star (and I would rate it at 5 if it is more affordable.). Highly recommended when cost is not a concern.
