Fantastic Resource!
Buy volume 1 first and learn how a transistor amplifier works since it is much simpler than the op amp that is discussed in this book. That being said, you will need to learn how op amps work since most of the pedals you will find on the market are made with op amps and op amps are very powerful. If you understand how the simpler transistor circuit works, there is a lot of carryover to this book. Sascha does a great job giving you enough technical information to be successful, but not too much that it is still accessible for people new to electronics.

A real step-by-step guide!
I have several publications regarding “Effects Pedals”, and some of those are titled for the “Beginners”, but you should start from learning about how to utilize Transistors and ICs, and it seems to me that they’d like to confuse the real beginners by it…This one, however, must be the only publication about ‘Effect Pedals’ that you could learn from real basics to advanced, by having both “Volume 1” & “Volume 2”!Don’t be perplexed by other publications, because some don’t have the good will to teach you in a real sense about Effect Pedals!
