Good value
I've had the opportunity to use these walkies a few times now and they do exactly what they are advertised to do. I will say there are two different maximum distances listed, one on the product page and one in the instructions provided, but I haven't had a chance to see how far they actually work. For my purposes they will mostly be used within a few hundred feet. I use them for communication while camping and hitting trails, a lot of the time cell service is non-existent so having a good way to communicate is nice. I was looking for radios that were simple to use, rechargeable, small footprint, and reliable, these check all of those boxes. I've gotten a few hours out of them so far without a charge but haven't used them until they are completely out of juice to see how long they last. If you're looking for a simple no frills radio to serve as a reliable communication device where you don't plan to be outside of a mile or so I think these are perfect. Good value.

These work well and are practically kid proof.
These work well. Can withstand a drop and no antenna to break off. Easy to reprogram with CHIRP software, which is a free download. Use the BF-T20FRS model setting. You can set the privacy codes as needed. You'll need a Baofeng programming cable.

Almost a good hand out or back up radio.....but they took channel lock out
Almost a good hand out or back up radio because of the price, ease of use and range, except for this simple fault. For some reason they took out the simple channel lock function out that was on previous Baofeng, Retcvis and similar radios. (This channel lock functionality to turn on or off or re-enable is not even an item in Chirp software?) This functionality normally on previous versions is where you simultaneously press and hold both the channel up and down keys and it then beeps after two seconds to indicate the channel is locked in and do the same to unlock. This is an essential function that was left out, that helps to keep the occasional or even the experienced user from inadvertently changing channels when pressing the transmit button next to the channel up button. This has happened with friends when traveling, and again with my spouse when checking AC outlets in the house when one of us is at the breaker etc. It really makes the radio useless as you can't trust it, to only lose contact due to an inadvertent button press. Baofeng, please re-enable this.

Baofeng T-20 Ultra Slip Model
Baofeng T-20 Ultra Slip ModelThis model is a comfortable, lightweight and easy to carry radio. It is so light that you can take it everywhere. It fits in a pocket of your pants. This model applies to any type of public. No amateur radio license is required to use it. It complies perfectly with the FCC regulations. This radio can be easily programmed with CHIRP T20 GMRS. The only thing against it is that some sellers include the 120V charger or others do not include it, you must make sure to check that it has it. If it includes it, you can use a 5V one, the cable is included by the seller.Ideal for specific communications. Short and medium range depends on where you decide to use it.If you ask me if I can recommend this radio, the answer is that I highly recommend it. For all types of public.

not new, received used return
I have used these radios around the truck yard here at work. They are good radios for our use. Needed to get replacements, and received defective units. Add to it, the packaging seems to be as if they have been returned. I suggest not buying from this seller. Also when I tried to resolve the issue here, "they" sent me to btech. Btech replied they didn't sell it and I need to contact the seller. Goes to show what kind of support you get here.

Excellent! Terrific Bargain & Value!
Listing is wrong on Amazon.. it is not a "BF-888s Upgraded", it is a Baofeng T20, that caused me to return a pair of these because one would connect as BF888 on chirp, the other would not. I guess a firmware difference? In fairness it is likely the vendor listing their product wrong.. and who knows why??ANYWAY.. if you can get a hold of a pair of these (For $13.00!!! are you kidding me??!) grab 'em. They CAN be programmed just like the BF-888 and access repeaters and all the cool stuff. Field strength meter shows same output too. You WILL need the latest version of CHIRP and then use the setting FOR THIS RADIO. You do NOT need to use Radioddity or WLN36, or whatever the Youtubes say... in the latest CHIRP there is a setting for THIS RADIO. Though you will need to have Win10 or later to use the latest CHIRP.Bottom Line? Great little radios, fantastic bargain, get 'em!!!Downside, if any, the battery is pretty small, don't know how long it will last, it looks like an ancient cellphone flip phone battery, and yeah, the charge port is OLD mini-USB, but they include cables. There are charge tabs on side of radio, so presumably there is a drop-in charger somewhere, but it doesn't come with radio.
