Seems great
Hard to tell when there's not yet been a surge, but so far so good.

great outlet extender
This tripp lite outlet extender was excellent for my purpose. The swivel feature helped me connect all of the wall warts that I had on a protected outlet without extenders that I had to use before. It is in the kitchen where an outlet strip is not a reasonable option. The addition of the USB charging ports is also handy, particular for visitors.

Compact, discreet, versatile, but with one odd design choice
Can’t yet tell if it serves its purpose as a surge protector (haven’t had a surge to protect against, or if I did I didn’t know of it), but it does fulfill other qualities I was looking for: It’s easy to pack away and discreet (I work with my computer in public spaces a lot), and it’s versatile in the number and type of connections it provides (three electrical outlets, two USB ports).I like that it lights up (in green) when a device has been properly plugged into it, so that I can tell at a glance if juice is getting through. One drawback I’ve learned of so far: The bottom half of the back has a “phantom” ground pin (plastic, not metal; see photo) that is meant to go into the bottom outlet — for stability, I’m guessing. This makes for bad connectivity at times, such as when the outlet is shallow or angled.

Quality Device
I got this surge protector for HDTV. Sockets were for electronic components.

Portable in size but not versatile enough for travel
I bought this for travel but didn't notice the little black peg on the bottom that plugs into the ground of a second outlet. As a result, this is designed to occupy two outlets, not merely cover them. This poses a problem for me because I bought it specifically for train and other travel where there are usually outlets but not the design you find at home. The three prong plug is no problem but that plastic peg is. It prevents plugging the surge into anything other than a convention dual three-prong outlet. I figured I'd be able to use a work around by using a two-prong adapter which would give me the extra space to plug it into a single outlet receptacle without that plastic piece interfering. However, the instructions clearly state not to use such adapters nor extension cords or anything else that would help overcome this issue. So it was basically worthless as a travel adapter and not as robust as a conventional surge suppressor. It may be good for hotel rooms if you want a quick fix for a multi-outlet surge protector I opted to go with a small regular surge strip with more outlets and a higher joules rating that I'll keep in my carry-on and will also carry a real travel adapter for the actual travel portion of my trips.

Well Designed Multi-Use Product!
The Protect It! SK30USB combines form factor and functionality into one great product.Pros:- Thin form factor- Additional, surge protected, outlets- High powered (2.1A) protected USB portsCons:- The glowing green light may be a little annoying at night- The directions say to remove the outlet face plate if you're going to secure the device to your outlet. The device isn't quite large enough to cover the same area that face plates do, so it can look kind of ugly around the edges. I'd recommend leaving the face plate on, removing the screw, and using the screw on the device to secure them both to the outlet.Ideal for:- Bed side outlets, no unsightly individual chargers hanging from outlets. All you need is a USB cord!- Travel, no need to remember the charging bricks. Just bring the cables and you're good to go. As an added bonus everything plugged in is surge protected and insured by Tripp Lite for up to $5,000!

Won't fit into my outlets - RESCINDED!
I was eager to use this after some good reviews. I received the product but for the life of me could not get it to plug into the outlet. I tried a few different outlets in the house, but none would fit. The prongs seemed a little misaligned, so I figured I got a dud and ordered a second. This one has the same issue, so I am returning them both.I tried a different brand and it did not fit either. After some manipulation I was able to fit in my socket. So my socket was indeed misaligned and not a fault of this product. Since I never tested it, I can't give it five stars but am changing my 2 to a 4. Apologies for any confusion.
