Says it's roasted and c/s in us but where are the roots originally from (grown and harvested)?

I just got an answer from the company yesterday! It's roasted in the US, but they're still currently sourcing it from China. Their previous supplier was in Croatia and that product was the best I've ever tasted. I think that Starwest Botanicals is a great company; their customer support has been outstanding, especially with my series of inquiries about this product. I consumed one bag of the Chinese product because they showed me how all their products are tested in California for purity and safety. But it was more bitter than the Croatian product I was accustomed to. I just didn't feel comfortable continuing to use it.

What does the C/S refer to?

Wow, you asked a question that I should have asked myself, but didn't. So I was driven to investigate and actually discovered that there is a code out there for these nondescriptive add-ones. C/S means "cut and sifted", in the same manner that R/S means "roasted and sifted". Too bad I didn't asked myself that question before I bought this because I might have chosen a dandelion root that was R/S, not C/S! Thanks for making me aware. I'll pay more attention to the full description next time, thanks to you! :-)

Should I grind it before brewing?

I did. In fact, I roasted it a bit more...then I ground it finer. (I prefer a darker roasted flavor than what this product provides as-is.) Perhaps I didn't need to grind it but I felt like I could extract more out of the root if it was a finer grind. I had to strain it of course, and, because I ground it, I always had a tad of fine debris at the bottom of my cup. So, I would add....try both ways (as-is, and ground finer) and see if it makes a difference to you.
