Peace of Mind! Radiation Detector
The RADTriage FIT is a credit card sized radiation detector that can be carried daily on a neck lanyard, in your wallet, or (like me, since I do not work in an industry with risk of radiation exposure) on my refrigerator out of direct light.Expiration Dates: If there is no radiation exposure, the sensor is active for up to 1 year at room temperature, or up to 5 years if kept frozen between uses. Once radiation is detected, or if color shows due to misuse, the card needs to be replaced.Damage/Misuse: The card can become damaged and unusable if exposed to airport security or medical X-rays more than 5 times, or if exposed to more than one laundry cycle, or if exposed to boiling water, or if the colors on the card become dark or red. The card's life may be shortened if exposed to temperatures above 72 degrees F for a prolonged period of time, or if exposed to prolonged periods of sun/UV light.Features: The face of the card has a dosimeter reference bar. There is a center rectangle that remains colorless unless exposed to radiation; low radiation turns the strip light green, while greater levels (above 10mSv) are indicated by the color shades on the card above and below the rectangular strip. The card measures gamma/ X-rays (energy higher than 30 KeV), high energy electrons/beta particles (above 0.5 MeV), and neutrons.Radiation Exposure: If radiation is detected, the dosimeter reference bar should be read under a fluorescent light for accuracy.Emergency Phone #s: Agencies listed on the back of the card should be notified of any radiation exposure. The Card's Exposure: The sensor on the card exposes the user to the equivalent of an airport security machine, or a diagnostic dental or chest X-ray.Time to Replace: After one year of correct use at room temperature, the dosimeter will develop color equivalent to 10 mSv and should be replaced.Everyone should have one of these cards in today's political climate. I bought this for our survival/emergency kit, but realized that it also belongs in the house where we can see it daily. The info above was compiled from the literature that came with the card. Hope you find it useful!

Aged card
This photo was taken the day the unit arrived. You can see the FIT indicator has already experienced significant wear. The radiation sensor is still good, but this product has been likely exposed to excessive heat in the warehouse. For reference, you can see the photo of the company’s example of what it should look like on arrival.

Exactly what was needed
Fast shipping and the article arrived unexposed and fit our needs perfectly. This is a *cumulative* detector, and will tell you precisely when you have been exposed to the radiation limits in a broad spectrum. It is *not* a radiation detector like a Geiger counter, and should not be expected to perform such duties. Use the right tool for the job and use it according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Already irradiated upon delivery
When I opened the small package, I noticed the color of the indicator was different from what it looks like on Amazon. It had a bunch of blue spots and darker colors. I looked at the guide and it showed that the card had already been exposed to X-ray and/or Gamma radiation. This is concerning. Has the card already been used? is it faulty? Has Amazon irradiated my package? This item is not accurate or useful due to the possible pre-exposure to radiation. I would not suggest buying this product. Faulty Radiation detectors can kill people because they don't tell you accurate information that can save lives. This product should be taken off Amazon immediately.
