I got this as a birthday gift for my husband last year. It was easy to use, a good size for small batches, and a good price for the quality. He loved it and still uses it often to melt down copper scraps, aluminum cans, and brass I think. Mostly making coins and bars.

Just what was expected and when I expected.

This works great for melting aluminum. It doesn't really get hot enough for copper and other high temp metals. Just a heads up, cans seem to be really low quality aluminum, lots of dross.

I've done a few melts. It worked out amazing. Its just a little tiny but it does help keep it hot. I placed satanite on the walls so the insulation doesn't burn away. It gets very hot, use proper care, just having your hand above the lidless furnace can burn you.

I bought this to melt steel. I put 6" cuts of 16g steel tubing in there for 1.5hrs and it didn't do anything.

Make sure to dry your crucibles in the over before placing in the furnace. If the crucibles are not completely dry the rapid heating will cause them to shatter or explode.

Set up was simple, it works relatively well and fast.I'm going to cast all the things! Just don't rely on the tongs that it comes with to grip the crucible or you'll eventually spill all over... ask me how I know..
