I had an old model fitted many years ago. The base plate was already wired in to the mains. The new model is compatible with the old base plate. So installation is super easy. Quality is good. Will certainly buy again.

Just exactly what I needed and as described, fitted easily & jas been working fine ever since, not that I’ve burnt the toast once or twice.

We had our combi-boiler serviced recently and, until the sharp-eyed serviceengineer spotted the date on the alarm, I had no idea that this type of smoke alarm needed replacing after about 10 years.I've got two alarms hard wired, with battery backup and have only ever replaced the batteries as they died, so I was surprised to find the units were a good few years out of date.Fortunately, although these alarm units are supplied with the base mounting plate, this part isn't required when replacing an existing unit, so any wiring between alarms doesn't need to be touched at all.Replacing them was a very simple task. Unclip the alarm using a flat screwdriver, slide the old alarm off from the mounting plate and slide the new one back in it’s place. I took no more than a minute to replace the two alarms.I was a little annoyed to find that the 9v battery supplied and fitted to one of the alarms was out of date and flat but, other than that, these were a good buy at a very reasonable price.The fact that my old alarms were out of date could have had huge implications, besides the fact yhat they may not have alerted us in the event of a fire. Out of date alarms can be a problem should you need to make an insurance claim following smoke or fire damage in your home.If you do nothing else today, please check the dates on your alarms.

The alarms slid easily onto the existing base plate without needing to call in an electrician - they came complete with 9 volt back up batteries - now protected for another 11years ! Refreshing to find a device that is backwards compatible.

We've been living in this house for twelve years. The smoke alarms were two years old when we moved in. They only last for ten, officially, so these did a great job. I can recommend them as replacements - they fit into the exact same bracket ( provided you buy the right make!)
