The traps are very sensitive, which I consider a major plus—it ensures they trigger quickly and cleanly.I’ve found the best baiting method is to put a few small drops of peanut butter in the little bait cup near the base of the pedal. This encourages the rat to step directly on the trigger, resulting in a swift and humane kill.The tension is high, which may seem intense at first, but it’s exactly what you want for an instant result. I did have a couple traps trigger without catching anything early on, but since adjusting the bait amount (less is more), they’ve worked flawlessly.I haven't had these for long, but I could see the staples coming out over time, which hold the spring and kill bar. Once a rat is killed, it's easy to pick it up by the trap, avoiding contact with the rat, and then put in a bag and toss in the trash.Highly recommended if you're looking for a reliable, quick, and environmentally conscious rat trap.

These are good traps, but they require some strength to set. I was afraid that it could snap on my hand and then it would be out of work. So just not worth the risk because I need my hands to work my job.

I regret this purchase. While the trap is powerful, I never managed to catchy anything. The trap is hard to bait, as it does not have a "cup" for the bait and trying to get the bait to stay on the plastic bait board was nearly impossible. The trap was triggered way too easily, resulting in my getting my fingers whacked twice (ouch!) And one of the traps broke the first time it was triggered; I am still looking for the "bar" that should be there to hold the bar in place.

One would think I had a giant rat problem buying so many traps!! After all, one trap is usable over and over again unless the rat runs off with it or his rat buddies carry him away for a private ceremony. I had a raccoon problem. The little buggers would defeat all my attempts at screening them off my second story deck until I came up with this as a deterrent! It’s very satisfying to hear a SNAP! In the middle of the night, knowing they got past my screen job (again). I don’t bait the traps, just put them where the intruders come over the gate/fence rails. I’m finding that news of a few broken fingers spreads quickly among their ranks!!
