Q: The connectors look the same, will this work with the standard 20v machines?

No it won't. I'd have known that if I had clicked on the second answer. Proceeded to look for a drill or something it would fit. Alas, I don't blow leaves.

Q: Whats the difference between the 1.5ah and 2.0ah battery

It's real simple, think of it like, "How many gallons can your gas tank hold?" The voltage of the battery is a constant, be it a 20v battery or a 40v battery, it's always going to give you the same voltage. But the amps tell you how long it will keep working. The larger the number of amps, the longer it will keep working. I personally bought trimmers that came with 1.5AH battery (and battery charger) and then I bought a second 2.5AH battery. Great deal IMHO. I have just purchased a 40V weed wacker with no battery; haven't used it yet. BTW the voltage is how strong it is; a 40V unit will do more work, e.g. cut bigger thicker things, etc. I'm very impressed with the trimmer, cut through really thick junipers as if I had a trimmer that was plugged into an AC outlet. Big two thumbs up. I'll definitely will using the weed wacker this week, interchangeable batteries, very nice.

Q: I have the LST136 model will this battery work on it?

I have a LST136, Type 2 (40V), that works with this battery. Not sure if it works with LST136 36V type, but likely it does since 40>36.

Q: Hi, I am trying to find a replacement for discontinued XR360 (36V) slide pack battery. Does anyone know if this would work in its place?

I think the 40v would work in place of the 36v because both are slide batteries and both are 1.5Ah. The worst is you return the batter or buy the B&D LST236 weed eater which takes 40v battery and replaced the 36v weed eater.
