For Professional Photos or Inkjet Films
Ok so I’ve been using Epson printers for about 15 years now . There is a big difference between their production machines and basic workhorse desktop machines . This printer is a production machine . No features at all. It’s basic function is to make stunning prints . If you are a professional printer like myself … this is your machine for Photography and ink jet films for screen printing . This printer is the replacement for the 1430 . It is super easy to setup ( took me about 30 mins ) some of the newer features is WiFi connectivity, which is nice if you wanna spit out a print from another room ( I have 6 computers in my shop ) it also has a automated arm that comes out to catch the prints from falling on the floor ( 1430 printers always fell to the floor ) which is nice so you can send print and walk away . All in all this is an excellent printer for the cost ( it’s about half the price of the 1430 I paid ) . People are leaving bad reviews because they simply don’t understand this printer is not for hobbyist … it was built for professional printers . Find a workhorse printer if you wanna scan or fax . Great job again Epson !

Epson is no longer the best.
What happened to Epson? They used to be the best. I have had several Epson Large Format printers. I use them for professional printing of documents and art. They have always been great. Recently I purchased this large format photo printer for around $320. It is, hands down, the WORST printer I have ever owned. The construction seems cheap and rickety. The paper jams ever 5 or so pages printed, the ink smears, and now after having it for just over 18 months, an automatic firmware update just RUINED the whole machine. Suddenly, it won't recognize the cartridges. This is, according to the internet, done on purpose to discourage the use of aftermarket ink carts. Thing is... these are EPSON cartridges. Even if they weren't, it is ILLEGAL to do that anyway. I have had to fight this printer every step of the way since I bought it... and the photo prints aren't great anyway. That is it... I am DONE with Epson.

Correction: Excellent value, quality and ease of use for color & grey scale; Wi-Fi firmware updates
Straightforward to install on my home WiFi network. The controls and screen are easy to navigate. Firmware updates can be done via WiFi—so much better than downloading an installer to a computer. Surprised that the maximum borderless print size is A3+. I don’t care, because I don’t mind a thin border on 13x19” paper, and intend to print 12x18” or smaller anyway for framing.Good results on real-world test prints with default color and tonal settings in Apple Photos. Astonishingly, perfect color and tonal range in my full-spectrum, full-dynamic range test print of a storefront on 13x19” Matte paper. A garden scene had true hues—borderless on 4x6” glossy paper—but was a bit dark. You wouldn’t notice if you only saw the print. Full tonal range B&W image on glossy paper lost some highlight detail and mid-tone pop compared to what I got from a commercial print shop using Luster paper, but I’m not seeing a color cast reported by others, which is very good news.I bought Epson again after a long hiatus because 1) I have a big stock of paper from pre-covid days, 2) ink cost is not a problem for my limited photo printing needs, and 3) the recent price drop offered a very low up-front cost. This one is smaller and very much quieter than its predecessor. It offers Air Print connectivity, but I prefer WiFi, even from mobile devices.Pretty happy so far. Already useful and B&W may improve with experimentation.

I use this printer to print out my digital watercolor paintings and drawings. Color is great and printer is quick. Little tough to set up but probably user error lol.

Review After 8 Months with low usage!
I opted to wait to write a review until I've used it enough to know if this was a good investment. (Purchased in March but didn't use it until April for reference). I just opened my brick and mortar after years of my business in my home and I wanted a printer that could keep up. So, after reading countless reviews on multiple printers... I took the plunge and purchased this one! At the beginning of any relationship there is a "honeymoon period". It was love at first unboxing. I printed on it often. The printing quality wasn't the highest of quality even after changing the settings BUT it still got the job done.Well.... not even 2 months after purchasing our relationship became spotty. Literally. Sometimes it would print. Sometimes it wouldn't. Print jobs had print lines all the time even AFTER reformatting the printer.July/August our relationship was officially done. I was ghosted by the printer. IT PRINTED BLANK SHEETS! New ink...CHECK! Reformatted... CHECK. Download new software...CHECK! The darn printer even said the "disc" wasn't in the disc holder.... WHICH IT WAS!!!Needless to say... I have called numerous times to customer service for the issues. They told me I can ship it back in and they would send me a "refurbished" printer since mine is still under warranty. Ummmm....I got a brand new printer that cost a pretty penny for a business that is already a dream on pennies. Why would I trust a refurbished quality printer when the brand new one didn't last 2 months before issues? I would have preferred getting my pennies back to invest in something different.Lessons learned.
