You can wet your brush and swipe it along the pencil and paint on your paper or color on the paper and activate the water color after . Very versatile

Hard to lift some colors
I really like these distressed whatever they are, but they break while sharpening. You need to be really careful sharpening. I also have had a really hard time getting certain colors to activate(greys)

Most interesting to use, lovely colors, and very neat taking them out of the home BUT avoid storing in a hot car or in the sun!!

I wasn’t too impressed, they are ok
I bought this because I’ve been watercolor in a lot lately and I wanted to try this because I got a lot of good reviews. Right now, I have all watercolor pallets tubes and the watercolor pencils. I didn’t find this to be much different than a watercolor pencil. I hope in the future to be able to use it sideways like you would would’ve pastel, and I heard that when you shave it, you could save the shavings and make your own paint instead of tossing them. Overall, I guess it’s an OK product. If you don’t have the pencils, it’s good a good option.
