Fantastic bars: no Maltitol, good taste and texture.
I've tried a lot of bars. Anything with Maltitol (in particular Atkins bars) gave me some significant digestive discomfort so I ended up looking for non Maltitol options. Quest bars were my staple for a while as they do not have any Maltitol but they are too hard and chewy for the British climate (in California, where they are made, the average temperature is high enough that they are much more palatable. Here in Britain I ended up cutting them with pliers!). Also, Quest bars contain sucralose and taste very sweet.By contrast the Nugo bars are just right. The texture is very pleasant, chewy but tender at the same time, and they do not taste too sweet. The proportion of carbohydrates and protein is balanced and they keep you full for a long time. The Toasted Peanut contains a mix of whey and soy protein, the Crunchy Peanut is pure soy protein and thus vegan. Both are very nice. The first is slightly denser and less sweet than the second but together they allow for change! Brownies is good too but a bit more of an acquired taste.Overall I am very happy with these bars. They are a great compromise between taste, health benefits and texture.PS: if you want a protein bar with a KitKat texture, try Power Crunch peanut butter or chocolate. These are very nice too and very different. I use both kinds.
