Best Option Available!
This is a really great electronic cat feeder! I recommend keeping the optional little plastic sides attached to prevent other cats in the house from sneaking in and eating at the same time.It does not beep when opening or closing like other electronic cat feeders, so that's definitely a plus because the cats do learn to listen for that and come running to sneak a bite. The only downside is the delay in closing, it takes about a solid 15 to 20 seconds to close once the cat has walked away. I'm sure this is to prevent it from accidentally closing on the cat, but it also leaves a window for other cats to jump in there and grab a few bitefuls. So it helps if you can locate the electronic cat food dish up out of the way or in a location that takes other cats or pets a minute to get to. Other than that, it's the best option I found available for our sick cat that has to have medicated food, that is way too expensive to feed to everyone! Also, I found it helpful to stick to cat food for the rest of the cats that my sick cat does not prefer, otherwise he will eat that food that I leave out for everyone else. This problem was solved simply by switching to a different cat food variety less desirable to him than his medicated food. Also, the tag you attach to the collar is a little on the big and bulky side. My cat does not seem to care though. And I believe there is an option to get a microchip in your cat that can be set to this device instead of using the tag.

Works and worth the money!
Works wonders for our cat that needs constant access to food! The rest of our cats are fed at scheduled times, but our little lady only likes to nibble throughout the day. The boys will scarf down her food in an instant if it's left out. This solves that problem! She is able to eat enough to maintain her weight. I haven't been able to test the battery life just yet, but so far so good and I will update if it is disastrous. So far worth the money spent, cheaper than similar models, and works wonders at keeping out the cats that don't need the food! I have it paired to my cats microchip. I do not use the tag it came with.

It's a lot quite than the Surefeed feeder. Now to see if it lasts longer.
It works well so far with one of our cats, but it doesn't respond well to our other cats microchip. I think the location of the chip is too far away. We bought three surefeed feeders and two of them failed in the first two years. Thier web page isn't helpful enough. I hope this brand lasts longer since it's not as complicated covering the food. The motor system failed on both of the surefeeds that open the lids. Not worth the value.

Works welll, easy setup, not scary to cat
Just got today. 3rd microchip feeder I have tried. Super easy to program. Read microchip in 15 year old cat immediately. Opens and closes easily and cat not scared of closing like in other models. Like delay close available in training mode. Might just keep that on.

Works perfectly, price is outrageous
Reading other reviews of this product I'm kind of confused - it works perfectly. Obviously it needs to be used with the bowl it comes with? I'm not sure why anyone would try otherwise. Also, I guess do check what kind of microchip you have in your cat, but I will say my cat is six years old and was microchipped in the US when she was a kitten, and her chip works fine with this reader. I'm not sure it's accurate to say if your cat wasn't chipped recently it's not going to work.Anyway, on to my review - I bought this feeder 10 months ago for my older cat who is a grazer, because my younger cat will scarf down anything he can get his paws on. Set it up to her chip by just holding her gently in front of it til it read her chip and bam, it was going. I did not have to make her eat from her normal bowl in front of it first, or have to make her eat with it open and automatic functions turned off.. I just set it to read her chip, gently held her in place while she was standing in front of it with her head in it until it opened, and then she immediately started eating out of it. She walked away when she was done, it closed, and about twenty minutes later I watched her walk right up to it, wait for it to open, and begin eating again. No problems at all. Some cats might be a little scared of the noise, maybe, but my cat is usually quite skittish and she learned instantly and with no issue. My other cat has tried relentlessly to break into it with no success. I don't see how two cats could fit in it side by side. I don't even have the two side flaps that make the head slot narrower installed, and he still can't fit next to her. She's only nine pounds so unless they were kittens.. How?All in all, while the price is definitely outrageous, it works perfectly and as advertised. Unfortunately older cat now needs a special diet and has taken to snacking on the younger cats food. So, looks like I might have to buy a second one now, lol
