It worked!
Plucked up the courage to do this on my BMW E46 325ti sport. Looked up that this was the right re-fill/gas type (also on a sticker under the bonnet). I work on cars/houses a lot but obviously this has quite serious warnings consequences if you don’t do it properly. Plus I suffer with anxiety badly. I meant to do a video but forgot as I was so focussed on doing the job safely/properly.Air con was no cooler than the heater on the lowest setting so it’s been a struggle on the few v hot days we have had!So- A few google videos later-I put the air con & fans on full with engine on.Long sleeve top, surgical gloves & DIY type goggles 100%! Can cause frostbite or even blindness if there’s a leak. Then of course a high pressure cannister. Hence my anxiety!Connected the gauge to the ‘low side’ air con connection as instructed and checked it was secure. It will only fit this side not the high pressure side.Ensure the needle of the can connector is fully retracted and screw on the can at the other end.Slowly turn the pin ‘tap’ to pierce the can. You will see the pressure start to rise on the gauge then turn the tap so the point seals the can. It will drop to the actual pressure. Check the reading. Repeat as necessary. You want it in the blue zone, about 50psi was stipulated for my BMW.Now mine was on absolute zero pressure… The can was empty at about 35psi but had got it to the blue zone. However the air con is now blowing perfectly cold enough straight away. So it worked.Anyway, glad I did this (£40 with a £12.49 hose/gauge off here) as it shows the system is working. I am dubious as to whether there is a leak or something due to the zero read. I’ll see how it goes. Try a conditioner/leak stop next if it gets warmer quickly and repeat the process. I now feel confident doing it myself so that’s more £’s saved from now on. Never actually needed to do it before in 25 years driving. At least I know the main components don’t appear to be at fault. Fingers crossed. Then it becomes more expensive & complicated.

Another black art debunked!
Great bit of kit. Bought this hose, plus a gas cylinder. One can fixed my Audi TT aircon, and I have got the hose now to use another time.Much cheaper than getting your leg lifted at a garage..

Well made and good value recharging device.
This is a car ac manifold pressure gauge and valve delivery device, for non-professional use. Connection is for the low pressure side on the car ac. The tubing, connections, gauge and brass work are all of good quality, and the two valves give smooth and gas tight connections. Topup recharges with HC-12a gas, the standard drop-in top-up for R134a gas, are straightforward and controllable. I would recommend storing the device carefully in clean, dry conditions. My only negative is that the tube lengths are a little short, but this did not pose any difficulties. I am pleased with the quality and price of this.

Make it easier for the diy guys.
It is ideal to be short, but when you have car makers like jaguar, that put the suction pipe right under the wheel arch, which is difficult to get at, and getting the freon bottle as well, is awkward, the truth is, car makers dont want you to have a go yourself, so it has to be jacked up in a garage, I know you could take the wheel off, put it on the top like the discharge, like other makers do, send this to jaguar, thanks.
