Great 365nm UV Display Lamp
QTX lamps are very good, this CFL style wood's glass lamp provides true 365nm long wave UV-A with very little visible light, ideal for a long wave fluorescent mineral display. I have two 20W and one 15W lamps in my fairly compact display, this provides enough UV for viewing in normal room lighting, however it is better in low ambient lighting. The lamp take about five minutes to reach full output which is to be expected. The tubes don't get very warm, however the ballast at the base does get quite hot, although not enough to burn when touched. Just make sure there's plenty ventilation and it won't overheat, they are designed to be used in enclosures.15W traditional 365nm tubes can provide a more even light, but for a compact display such as mine the CFL style is excellent, and you don't need additional ballast or starters. Overall I would recommend these for a fluorescent mineral display.

Good UV Bulb
Bought this as a replacement for a previous blacklight bulb. Good bulb and works fine

Does exactly what it's supposed to do!
One thing to remember is that this is a 'black light blue' bulb, which has almost no visible light and therefore only illuminates objects that respond to black light. It was installed in a room approximately 4m x 4m and easily covered the entire area, illuminating a number of interesting objects, including displaying a previously hidden wallpaper texture under several coats of paint! Fascinating! As with CFL lamps, they can take a little while to warm up, although I believes the additional heat encourages more UVA production. A true black light can be a lot more effective than a UV LED bulb, which produces less black light and more visible light, and I suspect that reviewers who have complained this lamp is not bright enough simply need more fluorescing material. The whole idea of the bulb is that you're not supposed to see the light - only what it fluoresces. Believe me, it works exactly as I expected it would :-)

Not as powerful as expected
Quick delivery, but I'm disappointed in the lamp because it's not as powerful as I expected. It's very good up close to it, but the uv doesn't reach the whole shelf brightly.

Blacklight, ultra violet lamp, low energy BC/B22 Bayonet Fitting High UV light intensity 20W
I bought this to 'energise' luminous stars that I've put on the ceiling of my 2 year old granddaughter's bedroom. Since they were stuck up they've done nothing, even tho it is a bright, south-facing room.I've only had the lamp a couple of days, but it works! To spend £11.99 to make £2 worth of stars glow is a bit OTT, particularly if it doesn't work. But it does.I switch the lamp on for a while before she goes to bed, then I switch it off and remove it from the room before she goes in, becauseI'm anxious about the effects of the UVA light on eyes and skin. I can find dismissive statements about the dangers, and alarmist statements, but nothing that's really reassured me. So I'll be cautious until I find out more.

UV Lamp
Amazing product! so cheap too! ordered 5 of these to light up my room as my friends and I painted my room in invisible uv paint and this was incredible when we turned them on for the first time!! They are sooo bright! Only problem i had was that one of the bulbs seemed to have trapped the light on one of the coils and heated up to the point where it was about to explode! but i think this may have been when i dropped it but I contacted the seller and he was happy to give me a replacement free of charge so great product!!! :) :) :)Jack

It works as it's meant too
Purchased 2 for room 4m x 4m. Gives great UV effect with whites shining bright. Most colours (except white) are heavily dimmed as you would expect, however, highlighter pens leave a glowing trail - as my daughter pointed out by drawing over her face!Tried same room with just one bulb; Result was OK, but had two so used both. Remember, this isn't going to give out normal light. Of course, it's going to be dark - that's what you want; lots of dark and lots of very bright white and nothing else.Argh, just noticed, it's very easy to spot capped teeth - good reason not to smile.Don't use a lamp shade.
