This tool was exactly what I needed to finesse some bumps on my walnut seat ! I carved it using an angle grinder, but to really get it smooth, I used this scorp knife. It arrived sharp enough, but I will need to sharpen it periodically.

Compared to pricing of other tools this is a good value if you just want this specific one. It is sharp enough and no fingers have been cut off in the using. Two thumbs up,( no, literally).

What I liked was the quality of the steel used in the knife and its holding of an edge. My dislikes were the wood used in the handle, which needed some fine sanding/steel wool to get the roughness out. The knife tends to “flex” as you are using it. That “flex” can be used to vary the size or shape of the spoon or whatever. If you’re new to carving, it can be a pain in the @$$ ! I used a ceramic round sharpening tool to go around the blade at an angle and then straight up and down on the inside of the loop to finish the honing, and that seemed to work well.

The handle is sturdy and blade is good. Well sharpened and it works well. Neat little bonus of a couple bandages in the box. That made me chuckle and they will probably get used.

This knife won't need honed unless the wood is very hard. In softer woods, it carves very well out of the box. A good value for the money.

Good tool for what it's for. Fairly sharp! Will it hold its edge for a bit? Time will tell.
