Missing template
I gave this 5 stars since even with the missing template I was able to install the door in about an hour.I bought the same exact door 7 years ago on Amazon and it’s currently installed on an exterior metal door. Didn’t notice much difference - they’re both sturdy, functional, etc. I did notice that “offwhite” color is now light gray instead of light beige. I was expecting them to match but oh well.I bought this to install on an interior door (to basement) that’s 2 inches thick and hollow so I needed the telescopic frame to hide the interior of the door. I previously had a smaller cat door on it but it didn’t have a deep frame and I was using tape to protect the interior of the door (to give you a mental pic of how awful it looked). I have an average handiness level, so measured the size hole needed and marked it with a pencil. Then laid down blue painters tape along the lines to prevent my cheap door from chipping out, and cut the hole with a jigsaw. Fit the frame in and screwed both sides together.I would say the screws were the hardest part. I had to hand tighten each one rather than using the drill because they were such a tight fit and I was afraid the plastic frame would crack. Got them all in with a bit of elbow grease and the door looks great!

Only Door We Will Buy
This was great we used the inside of the door to measure perfectly. Door fits great and the magnetic strip at the bottom is very strong. The slate to slide in for the door, is very quick to put in and take out. We have no complaints about this product.

Check the size
I haven’t installed it yet but I will say this extra large is more of a medium so if you have a big dog like a lab pitbull etc extra large is not the way to go I have smaller ish dogs so I’m good but other than that that looks to be good quality I’m excited for my dogs to use it

BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I waited a looooong time to write this review because I think when a product involved safety, it deserves a serious test drive. As you can see from the photos we use this cat door daily. Here is how we used it to modify a sliding glass door into a cat friendly, winter proof portal. We built a tunnel and added this door to the inside portion of the tunnel. We placed it on the side to prevent any cold air blasting through the flap--New England is not pretty in January. The tunnel extends into the screened in patio area and I created another cat flap using thick plastic I got a Joannes craft store, so bascially we built a skinny rectangle, wedged it inside the door, and added this cat door to the inside end. Above the tunnel we used 1" plywood to fill the top portion of the opened patio door. We added insulation on the outside of the wood, and pool noodles to wedge it in super snug.In winter I covered the patio door with thermal plastic shrink wrap stuff, and I use thermal drapes as well. It isn't perfect, but my cats have access to the catio all winter in 2 ways now. (They have a similar set up in a bedroom window with a larger doorway and towers and a long tunnel they use as a 2nd way to the catio)I am thrilled with how well this cat door works. They all learned to use it quickly and it really does keep the wind OUT of our house. It closes quickly behind them, but they can still nudge it open. From the photos you can sort of see the tunnel (yes I have an air conditioner stored on top of it) We have the tunnel behind a faux "wall" to keep our very NOT ok with cats dog from shoving his head in the tunnel to see what is going on--my house has 7 baby gates to keep the cats safe and the dog minding his own business.I hope this helps any pet owner who has a unique doorway/window set up. I looked everywhere for a patio door solution and NO way was I going to be paying that kind of money! We honestly built this set up with leftover wood and dollar tree pool noodles. Just frame it out to fit the opening you have to work with. Best cat purchase I have made in a long, long time!!!!

This will last for years.
I bought this to replace the exact one I installed more than 20 years ago. It is very durable and has been in use 24/7 365 days of the year providing entry and egress for 4 zooming dogs and one cat. The only part that I have replaced about 3 times is the very affordable flap which takes about 5 minutes. If they sold the magnets as a spare part, I would not have to be replacing the entire unit, but I can’t complain.
