Great product - so much better than those "wands"!
This cap works great. It can be a bit difficult to pull the hair through, but I managed fine on my own (though it did help to straighten my hair first). After you highlight, you can rinse and condition your the highlighted hair, and the rest stays perfectly dry! I had no trouble pulling the hair back through afterward, but I think that's because I used plenty of conditioner. Worked really well. I had previously used the "wands" that come with over the counter highlight kits - and those were a disaster, leaking color all over the place. This is much much better.Note: you need to have some talcum powder on hand to re-use the cap and keep it from getting sticky.

Best tipping cap if you....
To achieve a heavy silver highlight look (salt & pepper) look, I have been using this tipping cap every 3-4 months for over 10 years and have discovered some useful techniques when using it. I have a hat size of 7 & 1/2 and have medium length hair (for a guy). People with hat sizes larger than 7 and/or people with very thick hair, may experience a little more difficulty when using this product. These are a few things I have felt useful when using this product:(1) I apply a generous amount of virgin coconut oil throughout my hair after waiting at least 24 hours since the last shampoo. This is better for hair, facilitates pulling the strands through the cap & expedites the bleaching process.(2) I apply a 1CM width strip of duct tape and double ply it to the inside and outside of the cap to extend about 6 inches beyond the cap margins - on both sides. This is a makeshift way of securing the cap under your chin in a shoe-tie fashion. This has prevented the cap from pulling up a bit off the head and maintains even coverage as it conforms to the shape of your head.(3) After I apply the bleach (I have tried just about every type of lift & developer and in my opinion, Ion Color Brilliance Sensitive Scalp 30 Volume Creme Developer & Schwarzkopf BLONDME Premium Lift - to be the best, quickest and least irritating to the scalp bleaching combo), then I secure two processing caps over this. My medium thick, level 4 (dark brown) hair will bleach to the desired pale yellow color in 30 minutes. I do not bleach until my hair is "white" (which can severely damage the hair) and I do NOT use heat. Too much heat can cause the bleach to expand too much and "bleed" back through the holes onto the scalp. (a little warmth with a blow dryer for about 5 minutes set on LOW setting is ok to activate the chemicals for thick level 1,2 hair)(4) After the bleaching process, I wipe the bleaching mixture with a damp towel first & then LIGHTLY rinse. I do NOT remove the cap yet. This allows me to apply toner over the cap and on to the freshly bleached strands for an additional 15 minutes (I use Wella Color Charm Toner - #T18 [Lightest Ash Blonde] and 30 Volume Creme Developer to achieve the white/silver color). I also apply a hair processing over the toner as well.(5) Thoroughly rinse off the toner over a sink first & then shampoo (with the Magicap still on). It is at this point that I remove the Magicap and shampoo/condition all my hair. This whole process takes one hour and I can achieve the highlighting look I want in less time at a fraction of the cost.To keep the silver tone and prevent the brassy tone, I thoroughly saturate my hair with shimmer lights conditioner under a processing cap for about 45-60 minutes every week. These are some of the pertinent things I have found to be helpful when using this cap. I hope this helps .... Good Luck!

Pulls your hair out. Waste of my money and my hair.
I have used a plastic cap to highlight and lowlight my hair for years, and unfortunately I have to say this cap was an awful experience. I have waist long hair and I punched the holes before using it. I also heated with my blow dryer, although I have a small size head it wasn't needed to fit tightly. Which too tightly I believe is the reason for my bad experience with this cap. First of all it was torture getting the smallest hook it to pull my hair through, second came my rinse out. I always rinse my colored hair first with the cap on, and I mean rinse thoroughly, then I add conditioner to my colored hair and slowly pill the cap off. Well with this cap it wouldn't come off, even after adding more conditioner I was only able to get it down my hair about 4-5 inches and it started pulling my hair out. Lots of hair, finally after fighting 10 minutes and factions of inches at a time, I able to get the awful thing off my hair, along with a lot of my hair. Then I tried to rinse the cap inside and outside and long strands of hair was still caught up in the holes. I would not recommend this product to anyone.

Works great and will probably use this many times! It's so much cheaper too then a salon would charge for foils!
Worked great for my highlights! I don't understand the people that said the cap was to small. I have a pretty big head and it was big on me. I get compliments on my hair and no more throw away caps this is one of the best ways to high light your hair or cover those dang gray hairs coming out. I highly recommend this product because it works and you can reuse I hope many times. ( I have only used it once ) Follow directions and I think it will last a long time. Good bye throw away caps that bleed this one doesn't a bit. Thanks Magic Cap!

Great for do it yourself but not for salon use, better pay for foils if you go to a salon!
I'm a cosmetologist, and while it's frowned upon to do highlighting caps, I purchased this one because it's hard to foil your own head. I don't trust anyone else to do my hair but me and my husband assists me when I need help with the back of my head. I'm rating this 4 stars because even though this isn't the best way to highlight your hair, I'm soley rating it because it's the best highlighting cap I've used even before I became a hair dresser. This is the best cap to use if you're doing your own highlights. First, you need to punch the holes before you use. Because it's a silicone cap, the bleach didn't leak through because it seals back up after you pull the hair through. I docked a star only because it's painful since it's silicone and it pulls the hair because of it but I can't see another material being better since the disposable ones leak and rip. I also hate how the hair rips at times, part being that it's a silicone cap. It stays put and form fits on my head so the HL gets close enough to the scalp. I plan on using this again. I use powder bleach and developer but I plan on using color and 30 volume for every 3 HL sessions I do to add more definition. Definitely recommend this cap as a do it yourselfer.
