Cast Iron. Look after it and it will look after you
I have always wanted a cast Iron Skillet but the prices were too high for me with my current income, but during Amazons deal days I got a fantastic cast iron skillet for a great price and I have not regretted getting it one single bit.Bonus with this skillet is the fact its pre-seasoned but to be extra safe the first foods i cooked where high fatty foods like bacon and steak, to help created a more non-stick surface. The food I made was absolutey the best tasting food Ive made compared to using non-stich pans which always lose their non-stick properties after awhile, and also with Teflon being a forever chemical I always worry about what's being leeched into my food as I cook, but with nothing else but cast iron and fats creating a natural, non-stick coating I am very happy with this product, on a side note, I suffer from Anemia and the Iron that imbides into the food, although negligible, will help with my anemia in the long run (people might be thinking "why dont you just take iron supplements?" thing is I have a stomach ulcer, and when I bleed its noticeble when using the toliet, like digested blood, and when I took Iron supplements, everytime I passed, it looked like blood to me and makes me panic thinking my ulcer is bleeding or burst, which has happened many times, and over many bleeding incidents I've had a total of 13, thats right, 13 blood transfussions so you can under stand my concern)Alot of people would probably be put off the cast iron idea as it does take a little more time to keep the pan in perfect condition, I just wait half an hour after cooking, fill the pan with an inch or less of hot water (no soap) and use a soft sponge to clean it, and it cleans beautifully everytime, then I use a dedicated sponge I have to put oil on and just go over the whole pan so there is no chance of rust building.Sorry this is along review but I had to let the person reading this to hear my experiance I've had in using this cast Iron skillet and what they could expect if they buy their own. Truely its worth it and I can see this pan being used for the rest of my life and even more through generations of my family. One thing though, cast Iron is heavy and the handles get hot so use a tea towel or buy those sillicon grips that prevent you from burning your hand.If you got this far reading my review, I thank you and hope you too can change from artifically created chemical coated pans to something that makes cooking alot more interesting. Also the fact that this can be used in an oven, convection cooker or even BBQ and camping, its worth its weight in gold though thats my opinion. Currently trying to find a smaller cast Iron pan or skillet for camping as the skillet I use right now is 25cm surface for cooking.Would I recommend this to anyone? Yes I would, 100%, as you take care of it, the pan will take care of you.

After using for 6 months its a disappointing result....
So after using this for 6 months of which I was very impressed it has now lost its non stick. I was so hopeful that this would be a pan that lasts with its no stick but sadly like many others it hasn't and therefore I have only given it 1 star for value for money because expect at this price the non stick to last a lot longer. The test for me is cooking scrambled eggs and yes for several months you could cook these with little or no oil at all and no residue of egg is left the pan but now sadly, as you can see in my photo, it leaves a lot of egg stuck to the bottom of the pan and this was with a small amount of oil too. I would like to add I have not once put this pan in the dishwasher as I know that can effect the non stick over time, this has always been hand washed, never scrubbed.Very disappointing so wouldn't buy again.

Lightweight but does a good job
Bought to use in my motorhome and it’s working well for stir fry’s and steaming veggies. The lid seals well so no release of steam.Lightweight which is good for in the motorhome but can slide on the gas hob rings so a little care is needed.Easy clean too.

Do not waste your money
My pan warped within a few months of purchase and would not sit flush on my hob which resulted in uneven cooking. I would have given 0 stars if possible because the pan is not usuable and will be recycled. Customer services not only took months to reply, they refused to honour guarantee claiming the pan had been used on high heat. The only food I had cooked in this pan were eggs, fried or scrambled. Prestige offered me a 20% voucher for me to buy a replacement presige pan. Lesson learnt; I will never buy prestige again and will purchase a better make of pan next time.

Disappointing
I bought this cast iron casserole pot to use it as a 'Dutch Oven' for baking bread, which I have to say it does very well. However, despite cleaning it carefully as per instructions it smells of cast iron. I've heated it in the oven to 're-season' it but the odour remains. In addition to which, rust is showing on the lid under the knob and it has started to do the same on the rim of the pot. Unimpressed - hence two stars overall. Should have paid that little bit more for a Le Creuset-style enamelled pot.
