Great!
Solid construction, very shiny clean brass. Rather lightweight. The incandescent bulbs are long and fill the entire length of the shade shown here. two bulbs. There are two brightness settings set on a roller switch toward the end of the cord. The low setting is a soft, warm glow on the painting that leaves a golden, ambient shade to the room. The brighter setting is for more accurate review of the work but it doesn't overpower the room, either. I only bought one to see how it turned out and it's exactly as i envisioned. Hope this review helps those who weren't sure.

Great Picture Light
I purchased this light for an original expensive painting I bought last year. I love how good it looks and how easy it was to install. It even comes with 2 settings to allow you to choose the amount of light it will display. I really wish it would come with a thinner cable to make it easier to disguise. But I can't complaint because nothing comes close to the quality and pricing of this lamp. I highly recommend it. Plus it already comes with 2 light bulbs.

Great for Oils that Need a Bit of Light
This is a perfect match for a painting. I used the third party 2700K LED lights, not the incandescent ones the vendor supplies, and it works wonderfully. Makes the picture "pop" as it should. Also it is light weight but reasonable quality and it attaches to the frame. The reason for the frame attachment is that it then does not light the frame up. The arm can be extended for the management of any highlights you may need. Overall it is a good bargain and arrived promptly. My only suggestion is to get the LED lights, since even 25W bulbs can run hot.

Best antique style light for the money out there
I have purchased three of these same lights now. For the money, it destroys the competition. Being a real incandescent light (not LED) is preferred and loved because it casts a warm yellow light from its low wattage bulbs that makes your art really look like a Victorian masterpiece. If I had more hanging art, I'd get more. Also, the cable fits fine behind the art and poses no problem. I have the little turn switch on the side of the art, barely visible for easy on/off. Perfect for my needs. No cons.

Great picture light but replace the bulbs with LED bulbs
Attractive design good for illuminating wall art. (I used to illuminate a 18"W x 35"H painting and 27"W x 25"H litho.) The only problem is that the light uses a pair of 10T Standard base 25w florescent bulbs. Florescent, halogen & xenon bulbs are not great for illuminating artwork or on your pocket book (see below for more detail*). I replaced them with a two T10FIL5WD 5-Watt Dimmable Filament LED bulbs. The result was a bit stronger light without the wasted power. The newer filament LEDs have a look that is like the tungsten filament in incandescent bulbs.* Non-LED bulbs (florescent, halogen & xenon) give off a great amount of heat which may not be good for your artwork. These bulbs also give off UV rays which over time will fade your art. LED bulbs also last far longer than any of the other type bulbs (a little more expensive but pays for itself in the long run). Finally LED bulbs use a fraction of the power that most non-LED bulbs use (easier on the wallet). Most other bulbs waste up to 90% of the power consumed to produce heat and only 10% to produce light. LEDs use about 90% of the energy used to produce light and only about 10% is wasted as heat.

I bought several of these from the same company 17 ...
I bought several of these from the same company 18 years ago and was happy with them, but recently I just purchased 2 of these newer ones. The product now has been cheaped and the design compromised. The metal is now thin and gets very hot to touch even when the bulbs are kept at the very dimmest setting. Also the whole thing is really poorly designed. You will be blinded by the light coming from the bulbs because you can not angle the brass metal casing down in any position where the bulbs are not visible. Also, if you are using this to light up a frame with glass on it you will be blinded by the reflection of the bulbs in the glass, a double whammy! The old lights I bought 18 years ago had the reflected light on glass issue but not the other two problems. I designed and built an attractive structure and put it around this light and it remedies all these issues other than the overheating of the cheap thin metal. It is the way the light should have been designed in the first place by a company that cares and is interested in tweaking its products to perfection. If I can design a light correctly why can't House Of Troy who are in the lighting industry? Answer, they really are not very good at what they do and even worse, they just don't care. Do not buy!

Very pleased with this product
I think this is an attractive-looking, well-functioning, high-quality product and fairly priced. There are a couple of differences from the product description: the reflector is metallic silver-colored rather than white enamel, and bulbs are included. Both of these differences actually make the product better than described. There are two brightness options; this was not mentioned in the product description as far as I noticed but again, this enhances the product. I would definitely purchase this item again.

Great picture light
Replaced an old one that had started (quite literally) falling apart. This one fit on just like the old one - and we LOVE the two-level brightness built into the switch. It's nice to have the low-level "accent" light as well as the "Hey - look at me" level (rarely, but we do use it)
