dropping my rating
Update - Been a few weeks since I first used the laptop but today I wanted to install some additional software. It's a BUST, B and N keys no longer work. So, this laptop worked for approximately four hours and now, unless I can figure how to get the B and N keys to work, it's a door stop.Up front I wanted to say it's my fault. I was looking for a small rugged Windows computer to use with a few mechanic programs - mainly ForScan. Since I would take it while traveling it had to be tough, resistant to dust, not too heavy, and a screen I could see in sunlight. This Dell has almost all of my needs - it is definitely tough. It has dust ports covering everything. It appears the battery and perhaps HHD are also accessible from each side. I'm guessing it's the battery and HHD but with no manual, I could be wrong. I used the Dell for the first time yesterday and after an long setup time; not blaming the Dell but trying to get through Windows caused me to reboot the laptop three times when Microsoft froze. After setup and some personal software installed, I used the Dell on battery for about 90-mins without issue. Sitting in my truck with the sun beating in, I was able to read the screen and that was a good thing. My only issue and it's my fault, is the Dell is larger than I was expecting. Of course it is heavy - given it's design and construction that wasn't a surprise and since it's in my truck 90% of the time or on my work bench, I don't think the weight will be a problem. So, after just 48-hrs of use, we are happy. Getting ready for a four month overlanding adventure and the Dell is going along, so we'll see if I need to update my review.

Missing internal components
The laptop is great and in decent quality, its a rugged laptop so im expecting some scuffs and there are a few but it just adds more lore to the laptop. the only part that is a bit annoying to me is that its missing the simcard/headphone jack board, i dont know if it was removed by the refurbisher or the previous owner but that is annoying its missing, but its only a 10 dollar peice on amazon to install. also the laptop comes with 256 gb ssd which is enough for working on the web and light downloading but i would recommend upgrading the ssd to a bigger one and not worring about the size since it is very easy to replace the hard drive. just pull out the old one and slide in the new one.

Minor issues, but clean and working
These rugged Latitude 5414s are in good working order. I bought two of them for field employees. ONE out of two had some minor scratches and blemishes, but barely noticeable. They came preloaded with Windows 10, but the software used to load and parititon were not recognizable to me. Also, it was the 1903 version so outdated and unsupported. So I opted to reload everything with a base copy of Win10 22H2. Everything loaded fine. Had to change the BIOS to load from external USB in EUFI mode. No big deal there. Screens were clean and scratch free. All keyboard keys and touch pads were very clean and in working order. Touch screen works great. The only other thing is that I am guessing one of these motherboards must have been replaced during the "renewing" process. Upon reload, one of the laptops automatically activated its Windows digital license, whereas the other did not have one. So I had to purchase an OEM Win10 key to activate the second one (not a big expense). Othe than the issues mentioned above, everything works great. All is as described in the description. I would buy from them again.

Pretty good old laptop
Its a pretty old model, and the handle is a bit flimsy. But the electronics work well.

Works as promised
I spent about an hour reading the manual and then looking over/setting up the computer. The good news is that the battery looks brand new and looks to be the 9-cell vs the 3-cell type, giving it 4 hours vs 1 hour of operation. There is a webcam, which is optional. Scuff marks but that's to be expected for a used laptop. The USB 3.0 ports are located on the right and left-hand sides. I'll add more when I take the laptop to the field.

Nightmare and still waiting for the situation to be remedied.
Received the laptop. It was packaged very well multiple layers of bubble wrap. I pull the laptop and so far it has met the description. Even with it being a renewed laptop it has no scratch marks or blemishes. Taped to the top of the laptop was an inspection form stating the device passed inspection. One of the odd things was one of the things that passed was the touch screen operating and this particular model didn't have a touch screen.I powered the laptop on the setup screen came up. After roughly 45 seconds to 1:00 minute the screen locked up and slowly started to fade out to black. I rebooted it and tried again and it did it again. If I did close the lid while powered on and opened it then screen would be fine for anywhere between 10 to 30 seconds and then locked up again and faded to black.I requested a return and dropped it off at the ups store 3 weeks ago and haven't received a replacement or refund. Talked to customer service and they stated it was still in transit. This has been a nightmare since receiving the laptop I was very disappointed because I had been wanting this particular laptop for over 9 months.
