Let me start by saying some people in the previous reviews don’t pay attention. Wood Grip is the brand. And even the description states comfort grip handle. As for this pool cover tool, it’s heavy and heavy duty. This is really nice and worth the money. Do not buy a two piece or the one with the pin in the middle. It’s weak. Again this one is solid and heavy.

This pole seems to be heavy duty enough to do the job, but does not have a wood grip. even the internal packaging indicates "wood grip".That is not too important to me, but docked one star for inaccurate, descriptive laziness.

What impressed me the most upon receiving the item was just how heavy it was. Let me be clear...this is so heavy duty an item, I can foresee no circumstance in which it could possibly bend or break when applying extra leverage to pool cover straps that may be a little too tight. It comes as a one-piece rod, so no issues regarding the joint that exists on other two-piece assembly-required models.Yes, it does NOT have a wood grip as the product name might imply, but the rubberized grip is securely fastened to the stainless steel rod and I did not experience any slippage of the grip during the rotate step used to move the longer part of the half-cut tip to the appropriate position during cover installation or removal. I cannot see where wood would be a preferred material for this use anyway.I previously had a tool made of aluminum. It was not heavy gauge and bent easily. The very tip eventually broke right off. DO NOT buy aluminum.I cannot attest to rusting issues, as I just purchased the item. But it does appear to be stainless steel as stated in the product description. I store my tool in a reasonably dry garage when not in use, so I will see over time if it is prone to rust and may update this review accordingly. Even if it does rust, rust is fairly superficial, and did I say THIS THING IS EXTRA HEAVY DUTY. A little rust on the outside is not likely to weaken it much.

I am in charge of a pool. It has an elephant cover. We had a pool company close up the pool for us, and I learned how the pool may need to be drained periodically over the winter. $200 per visit they wanted to charge us. I went another way.I already had a small submersible water pump, extension cords and a hose. All I needed was some way to access the water. In stepped this thing, and a couple youtube videos. It's really just a heavy steel bar, rubber grip on one end, little cutout on the other. Using it could not be simpler. To remove a grommet, you insert and twist. To replace, slide the grommet on and stomp it down. Takes a little elbow grease. But this thing was the perfect tool for the job. I am very happy to have it and it will save me $1k this season for sure!!!!!
