Good ol' Seabag!
I bought a used one, i got the used-very good one. I t didnt have any rips or tears in it. It did have a name in black marker, and a unit #. It looked like there may have been a hole or two in it at one time, but someone repaired it, no holes now. I really enjoy this bag, and its very durable, just like the one i had in the Navy. Not sure if this bag was used by someone in the Army,Navy, Marines or what, but the smell of the bag brings back memories. Smells just like the open sea! 5 stars!

Great Bag!
I recently wrote and directed a short film with a US Army element in it. On our shoestring budget, we needed to purchase props and uniforms that lent legitimacy to the project's storyline. This bag went a long way in achieving that until I found out that US army soldiers nowadays use digital camouflage backpacks when traveling and that when they did use these bags, at no time did they ever tie the top with nylon string. So now I feel like an idiot after shooting my entire short film with these two glaring errors. I worked so hard on researching what US Army soldiers use for gear and how they look that I got lazy when it came to what they use now for duffel bags. I feel angry just writing this knowing that any military veteran or enlisted soldier that sees my short film will get distracted by these two mistakes. Still, I'm very happy with the quality of this bag.

Great as a duffle for camp or sports.
Why didn't I think of this earlier. These duffle bags are absolutely impervious to teenage boy damage. Bought this for my son to go camping. Easily holds 2 weeks of clothes and gear. Takes all kinds of punishment and not a single stitch has frayed. Only drawback is the opening on top. Would be nice to be able to access from a side zipper, but that would most likely prove the weak point in the design. We cram this thing tight and toss it with impunity. Holds up like champ.

A bit funny
This was shipped to me with just 6 or 7 days I'm not completely sure but super fast! The seller I chose guaranteed me no rips or holes and this bag is flawless. They say that because it's surplus it will more than likely have writing on it which didn't bother me but when I received it I had to laugh because the writing was my last name Smith and my first initial C. I don't know if they wrote this on when seeing my name on who to address this to or if it was just an interesting chance but it just made my personal buying experience that much better. As for the bag itself, zero rips, tears or holes, everything is there, doesn't smell at all and only had my personal name on it. Very happy with my purchase and would be more than willing to do business with them again.

You get what you pay for
OK now that I have had a chance to clean the bags (large wash tub, hot water, soap and stiff bristle brush) I am changing my rating from 2 to 3. These are acceptable - merely so. Once washed and hung on a line outside for a day, the smell of mildew is gone. The grimey surface is now clean to the touch. I would have been tempted to rate them a 4 except that one of the four bags I got was badly torn and is not usable. These bags have been USED - heavily - by the soldiers that previously owned them. All of the bags contain black marker writing (with the soldiers names) on them - this is not necessarily a bad thing, but something you should be aware of. Nov 19, 2011 - Bamcat.---------------------------Comment on Nov 13, 2011: Based on some of the other reviews, I was expecting duffles that were a little bit better than what I got. One of the four duffles that I ordered has 3-4 inch tear in the bottom (not worth the cost of returning). All of them sink of mildew. All of then are dirty and grimey to the touch. I may try to wash them. OK for carrying old tools or buring a dead dog in - but not for holding clothes (unless your homeless, I guess...now that I think of it, I may just donate these to some homeless dude...).They are cheap - and there is a reason for this. Don't do what I did. Buy just one, check it out first before you buy more.

NOT a heavy duty cordura
I got it from Allegheny Surplus due to their excellent feedback and detailed description, however the material quality turned out to be so low. It's thin and doesn't seems to be durable. Though i paid the most price for the "like new" one. It was like new, but quality was not as described!

Great item for a great price!
Damned fine bag. Mine was used and I expected as such. My Dad had an army one from the 60's when he served and I've always wanted one. Since I'm a cake eater, I didn't get a chance to earn mine. I bought this one and I'm happy. It's in great shape, needed a little trimming on the worn nylon on the inside, typical stringing you see on surplus gear. The best feature to my twisted amusement was the faint puke smell. Some poor kid probably yakked all over this thing. Nothing a washing couldn't handle. LOLBag came in great shape, all straps and handles working as they should. This is now my heavy load carrying bag for camping. Can fit a folded tent, mosquito netting, tarps and every other darned thing in it.

Duffel bag
The bag had no clasp to keep it closed. The hardware that holds the sholder straps was missing. Verry dissapointing transaction. I would not buy from them again.
