So I have a '99 Chevy Silverado . I bought a Reese brake controller . That requires a plug adapter . If you don't have the adapter for the controller it will not work. The trailer brake controller does not come with one you're required to buy the cord separately. So far they break control has worked 100%. This was a plug-and-play situation . Where I just plug the cord into the vehicle plug the door into the brake controller and I was up and towing with a brake controller for a travel trailer . My only problem is they are sold separately which one the brake controller does not come with one so far so good and not had no problems with wiring or controller

This fit my 2003 GMC Yukon Denali and works perfectly. I mounted mine inside the cubby under the radio where my disc changer used to be. The cord was almost too short for that. I didn’t want to be banging my knee on it. I followed the directions for adjustment and boost. Really makes a difference in stopping. A tiny LED stays on even when the key is removed but the Denali shuts all power down after 15 mins so it goes off then. Just mentioning that in case your car does not have that feature. The manual brake feature came in handy a couple of times. I used double stick tape on the bottom to keep it from sliding. Great price for a proportional brake controller.
