Melin has Amazing Customer Service and stand behind their products!!
Melin is an excellent company. I had an Issue with my hat, and I googled their customer service number and spoke to a rep, Annie. She sent me an email with a couple of questions, and they are replacing my hat after just a quick call and email back to them with the info!! No Hassle at all!! Thank you, Melin, for your fantastic service!

Its a nice overpriced hat
I have a large head and thick hair so finding a snap back that fits good is pretty difficult. Hat fits great but the price is ridiculous. Ill might get another one..

nice hat
I usually wear New Era baseball caps, but if you get one of those sweaty there is no way it's going to get clean. I got this Trenches Icon Hydro so that the hat can get wet if needed, either from rain or lake water or my own sweat. You can wash the hat with gentle soap, like dish soap, and it will come clean. I have a large hat size, and this is the only one of the Melin hats that will actually fit onto my head and come down to the proper ear level. Someday I'd like to get this in some of the other colors besides the initial light grey. Not the cheapest hat. Anyway, I like the look of this hat and, like I said, that you can clean it.

Good quality, Perfect Fit
This hat is expensive but very solidly built. The fit was perfect for my giant melon.

Not worth it. "Features" have no real value, save your money. And the "thumb patch"? Please.....
Like many of you, I was intrigued by this company and their fresh take on hats. (I own more ball caps than I would like to admit!). I saw all of the "Amazon ships in envelops, ruined the hat" and then the "Amazon now ships in boxes, problem solved" posts as well. I read the reviews, took a chance and ordered two colors of the Icon Hydro. Here is my experience: First of all, my two hats arrived in....wait for it....an envelope. Upon inspection, one hat was dented and one was not. The dead give away was that the dented hat was in a replacement bag and not a branded Melin bag. Looks like the dented one was likely returned and then sent to me as the bag it came in said "ready to ship". Not a great start. However, the color I preferred was the none damaged one, so I was pleased about that...Now on the hat itself: It does look nice and high quality, but I was really expecting to be blown away by the quality, and frankly I struggle to find how it is any better than the twenty or so New Era etc. hats I own. I got to be honest here, the brim? Same as any hat I own.. the hat fabric? Maybe a touch nicer but nothing earth shattering. Features? A silly pocket in inside for who knows what. In all my days I have never thought "you know what my ball cap is missing, a pocket!" Zero value for me. Next, the snap on the back, nothing special here either. It functions like any other. Not worth the hype.Next the two biggest misses for me: First the bottom of this ALL BLACK hat brim is NOT BLACK. It is a light grey / leaning to white color. WHY? The whole point to wearing a hat is to keep the sun out of my eyes, especially if you are on the water (remember this is the "HYDRO"). Now glare from the water or snow or whatever reflects right into your eyes. Wow.Second huge miss: The absolutely silly "thumb patch" so you "don't get your hat brim dirty". This bit of silliness was the deal breaker for me. (See picture). First of all, I have worn ball caps for 40 years, and NEVER once have I had the problem of "oh my gosh, the underside of my hat is now ruined!". I have a tip: If your thumb is oily or fifthly, wipe it off before you touch you hat, or your clothes, just like your Mom taught you. I have never once had a problem with this EVER. I have ruined plenty of hats with sweat stains and dirt and sawdust, but never with my "dirty thumb". I would normally laugh it off and ignore it, but here is the kicker: the "rubber patch" is WHITE. I repeat, WHITE. UNDER YOUR BRIM. It is about the most distracting place possible. If was black, on a black brim, no harm no foul, but WTH? Just plain bad design, almost laughable. See photo. I tried to wear it around the house and convince myself I could get used to it...NOPE. No deal.Next the "waterproof" brim and how "it floats". Ok I spend a lot of time on rivers and on boats of all shapes and sizes. How many time have I needed a hat that floats? Maybe once, maybe? Another tip: Turn ball cap around when your on a vessel at any speed. This keeps your hat on your head and out of the drink. If you are a ripping surfer that kicks a ballcap when you surf, good on ya, you got skills, so maybe this will be good for you, for me, not so much.Summary: Pocket: Silly. Brim patch: bad. Waterproof: little value. 5 logos around the hat: unnecessary. I applaud a company who tries new things and pushes the envelope, and I really wanted to love this hat, but these "features" are no value and the price is DOUBLE of any other high quality cap.My advice: Pass on this, don't believe the hype. If you are itching to spend $60, go buy two new $30 hats and keep one in the bag. When you loose your first it in the ocean, or dirty up the brim with your greasy thumb, pull out your fresh new hat and call it good.
