Nakba as Memory and Enduring Reality
This thoughtful blend of scholarly analysis and personal memoir is a powerful corrective to the tendency of pundits to obscure the massive expulsions and ethnic cleansing that formed the birth of the state of Israel. In NAKBA, Ahmad Sa'di and Lila Abu-Lughod have provided us with an indispensable work about memory, the violence of settler colonialism, and the courage of turning lifetimes of pain into insight and résistance. The superb writings in this collection make it clear that the Nakba was not a singular event but is a process that continues to this day.

History from the Palestinian point of view.
Enlightening book from a different point of view than often found in America.

Not what I expected or that is deserved
First 50 pages, wasn’t impressed.250+ pages of story telling and reporting remain. The Palestinian people deserve better and people like me really do want to grow a better, more comprehensive understanding. The scholar(s) behind this work need to remember that what they have said is written for the Palestinian people and their damaged and stolen society. All the repetitive whining may have short changed an exploited people, individuals and vulnerable communities that paid dearly. For this, they deserve the full details of their lives to be unearthed in a more genuine and more complete and scholarly way.In my opinion, their lives and stories need o be discussed and all details presented in a manner reflecting an effort commiserate with the complexities of their lives and experiences.
