Does the job, but be prepared to deal with all of the small parts
Good news here is there is a color guide included if you get lost, but the install itself is straight forward. The basic guide is to just start taking screws out until the inner cover comes off, then remove both the IDE data dn power connector boards. I found it best to remove the daughter board as well so I could get access to the ribbon cable on the back. (The daughter board just pulls straight up out of its connector, see my photos). The space where the IDE power connector is no longer used, but I put back the two screws for safe keeping. At this point you just connected the power connector from the IDE board to the new SATA board and do the same for the ribbon cable. Don't forget to take the two plastic spacers and put those under the new SATA board so it doesn't short to ground on the metal shielding. After that, just close it up and that's it. I plugged in a random 1TB drive I had lying around and happily got freeHDboot going. Supposedly a PS2 can detect up to 2TB. Oh, and it should be no surprise that your SATA drive will be operating at IDE speeds as we are just swapping the connector here.

works, but install was a bit finicky
This product works great, but install was weird. it took a little bit of figuring out because the version network adapter I have varied somewhat from what was shown in the included instructions. also, the power plug is on the opposite side of the original’s PCB, which means you have to plug-in the cable at 180° opposite of its original orientation, which means there’s a bunch of slack you have to figure out what to do with. Once you get it together though, it works really well

Not worth the money - updated works with one change
Was a little more complicated to install than expected, not terrible by any means, but getting everything to line back up properly to get this board screwed down was a pain. I would suggest screwing this board down and then connecting the cables. It's easier to wrangle the rest of the components into place.Doesn't really matter though as the thing only works when it feels like it. Maybe one out of every four or five times I power on the console it will decide to recognize an HDD is present. I've tried multiple drives and pulled it apart several times to verify I didn't make some error in installation. I also know the network adapter and console work fine otherwise. This adapter just sucks.Update: if you’d like this to work don’t reinstall the metal shield. Leave it off and lit works great.

Worked perfectly for what i needed!
Installation was pretty simple. I followed a youtube tutorial but the instructions that it came with were pretty clear as well.Works perfectly and allows me to use a SSD while still being able to connect to the network for online play!

*Must have mod for the PS2* Easy install!!!
First off it works great! It's super easy to install and yes it does come with easy to read instructions with detailed pictures.Had a Samsung 870 Evo 1tb SSD that I put into the PS2. (Stole it from my PS4 since it was collecting dust)I'm guessing you want to load games from the SSD... which is why you would buy this adapter.*If you get an SSD for this adapter you will see a big decrease in load times. It's great!!!!*

6 months in and working great!
The install was easy peazee lemon squeezy I went with a cheaper SSD so I could get the most storage, I know the PS2 doesn't take advantage of the max read/write speeds but, it is noticeably faster than booting from disc. Also, SSD's generate no sound and have no moving parts, so it's a win win. I wanted to utilize the Ethernet ports on the back of the PS2 as well and this board allowed me to do that.
