It was actually the steel wedges that I needed from this kit. They did the job perfectly with no issues.I did use one of the wooden wedges for an old hammer and it did what I needed it to do. I usually prefer to make my own wood wedges, but one of these was the perfect size so I thought I would try it out just to see how they hold up. The one I used didn't split, but I can see how they may do so. I personally would have preferred the wood to be harder. I will still make my own wedges in the future, but if you aren't confident enough to do that, these will suffice if you have the appropriate handle.

This little set of wedges are fantastic and a must for me when I am restoring various axes, hammers and other classic hand tools I enjoy restoring. Using the wooden wedge instead of a metal version, brings back the authenticity to the restoration itself.

Worked fine to rehandle a small sledge hammer I inherited. First order did arrive, but seller dealt with the issue well. Not cheap, but good quality and enough in the pack for two hammers at least

All wood wedges were very small, although functional. You are probably best cutting your own. One alone would never be big enough for any reasonable sized tool.

Circular step wedges are great but the wood wedges are just terrible.If you buy this then be prepared to cut your own wooden wedges. The ones that arrived had some with splits and are far too narrow to be of use on most standard handle sizes but the main issue was the type of wood. A wedge should be a hardwood, these are not.That said, for the cost, you get some nice metal step wedges that are difficult to get hold of.
