Hi, As the cover is just slipped over the boot lid, it is very easy to lower the boot lid, slip off the tailgate shade and close the boot. Thereby having a fully lockable car again. The top half is slipped over the boot lid and bottom section is slipped under the bumper and clipped or tied to your back wheels. I love this tailgate cover and have used it on many an occasion. You will not be disappointed.
