Glad Rags make me glad
I bought these about 3 months ago, and I'm very impressed! This is my 3rd or 4th cycle using them, and I wish I had gotten these 15 years ago when I first started my period. These are the only kind of reusable pads that I've used, so I don't know how they compare to other brands. I can only say that my experience using them has been amazing. The only bad thing is that I don't have enough of them! Here's what I like about glad rags:COMFORT - There's just no comparison to disposable pads when it comes to comfort here. This is the closest thing to just wearing underwear that I can imagine. Ok, the pad is a bit on the bulky side, but still it doesn't show on the outside even when wearing skinny jeans. It feels about as bulky as a disposable overnight pad. It more than makes up for that by being breathable and soft. When I was using disposables, I would be a raw, sweaty, itchy mess by the end of my period from the plastic and chemicals. Not so with glad rags!ABSORBENCY - I don't even know where these things hold all the blood. It looks like just a few layers of fabric, but it's still capable of holding up for a good 6-8 hours on my heaviest flow day, without soaking all the way through or leaking. I wring them out and soak after each use before washing, and the amount of blood that comes out always surprises me.STAYS IN PLACE - I really didn't think the pad would stay in place so well. After using disposables so long, I figured anything lacking an adhesive backing would probably shift a lot. Surprisingly, the glad rags stay in place as well as or better than most disposables - despite the fact that they have only a single snap.ODOR CONTROL - For some reason, my blood smells less bad using these...? Can't figure that one out, since disposables usually have chemicals designed to reduce odors. But hey, I'll take it.DURABLE - I've only been using them for a few months, but they seem to be holding up pretty well after repeated washings. (I only have three, so each one usually gets washed at least two or three times per month.) They have not gotten warped or lost shape. They are not quite as pretty and perfect as they were out of the box, but still completely functional with no ironing necessary.*************Edit after having these for over a year:I stand by everything I said in my original review. The pads are still in good shape after using them for nearly 20 cycles. They have started to pill very slightly, but there's no fraying. These are my go-to pads for heavy flow days (on lighter days, I use Bububibis.)Second edit, 2 years later: Yup, these are still good. The pads seem to be in about the same condition they were in at the last edit.

Polyester Stitching
Overall I think this item is great for those without special medical needs, however as someone with a polyester allergy I need to remove stars for the deceptive advertising. The description says 100% cotton, and while I realize that usually when a manufacturer makes this claim they're only referring to the content of the fabric, and that the stitching on seams is almost always polyester. However, since the description also lists this as being "plastic free," I took a chance hoping that the seams would be stitched with a natural fiber thread of some kind. They were not. They aggravated my skin almost immediately and I ended up having to rip the seams and re-sew them with my own 100% cotton thread. So, manufacturer, in case you were not aware: POLYESTER IS PLASTIC. Please keep that in mind before making the claim that this item is "plastic free."

No more disposables for me!
I wish I had found these a long time ago!I had read that using cloth pads can make your periods less painful, shorter and lighter. Cloth pads don't have the chemicals that are in most disposable pads. There are theories that they actually add stuff to disposable pads that makes you bleed more, so you will have to buy and use more! I haven't used a disposable pad since I read that, and I have noticed it is true!I researched cloth pads for a few weeks before buying these. I was looking for pads that were absorbent, comfortable, and that stay in place. Some of the pads I researched had pretty patterns, but that was not one of my criteria. These are not adorable, but neither are disposables, so who cares?! They fit all my criteria, and they are organic, which is a bonus.I bought some of these and some of the pantyliners. I love them both! One box of these comes with 3 pads with 6 inserts that fit inside the pad. For light days, you can use 1 insert, 2 for heavy days. They also make an overnight pad, which I haven't tried. As for care, it's just like you would do if you got blood on your panties. Soak in cold water, wash in cold water.During Aunt Flo week, just keep a bowl or bucket with cold water in your bathroom. Rinse and drop your dirty pads in the bucket every time you change. Wash them all in one load after AF leaves. So easy! They also fold up and snap, so you can carry them, even with blood on them, in your purse, and the blood won't be visible or get blood on anything.

They are a great product, great for your body and the environment
They are a great product, great for your body and the environment. They only thing I would say is they come soft, but after the first couple washes they aren't so soft anymore, considering they tell you not to use fabric softener on them. Also, they do move around a little bit, but only if you leave them on without changing them for like 5+ hours. So if you are changing them at least that often, it shouldn't be a biggy. My suggestion would be to buy a reusable pad specific cleaner for them! That should help to keep them feeling brand new for longer.

Cheap replacement
Bought several packs of Glad Rags in 2009 to avoid using disposable pads (cost and environmental impact). Very happy with them until after many washings, they began to fray. Re-ordered items in 2011 were not like ORIGINAL soft but sturdy fabric like brushed twill. More like thinner flannel that curled as soon as washed and didn't stay in place. Still a savings over disposable pads but won't buy again. Will try another brand.
