Agri-Fab 45-0456 44-Inch Smart Sweep Tow Lawn Sweeper

I have a zero turn Toro/ Wheelhorse with a rear discharge mower deck that I tow a lawn sweeper behind while I mow. I have had this setup for nearly 20 years. I have gone through lawn sweepers from $1,200.00 to $225.00 and this one is the best. I had no trouble with assembly and the instructions were easliy followed. I had no dents or torn material and all parts were there. The dump handle is not long enough for my setup so i just used a rope, like every other sweeper uses, and it worked great. I left the first handle section on the sweeper snapped into the retainer to provde a little support to the basket and just removed the other handle section completely. The balance of the basket makes this the easiest sweeper to dump when loaded with clippings I have owned and it holds a lot. The height adjustment was simple. I mowed the grass until the sweeper was over the newly mowed section and set the brushes 1/2" into the grass. I never had to mess with it again. I believe on all sweepers that the key to good operation is having the drawbar level. Pay close attention to this detail and you will be much happier. The overall width is wider than my mower but the brushes are an exact match to the mower width. It picked up everything cleanly with the first pass. The single drawer bar design worked very well with the Zero turning mower. Time will tell how long the gears, bearings, and brushes last but my record for previous models has been 5 years. I hope this one does that well. It should owe me nothing by then. I ordered it one day and it was delivered to my driveway the next day with free Prime shipping. Wow! No complaints with this deal.

My husband wanted this instead of paying a lawn care service. The price was about even (for one or two visits) so I let him have a go at it. He did spend more time assembling than we had expected, but the result is clear; he loves it!We use our zero turn mower at a decent clip, so speed is not an issue. After a few passes he finally got the sweeper height figured out, then it was smooth sailing, , , except for dumping the hopper. The trick is to unhook the dump handle from the pivot bar. He just leaves it hanging loose, doesn't seem to be an issue.As noted in other reviews, the bendable metal stay bars are useless, he just removed them after assembly.We have read about the wheels wearing out, so we'll be on the lookout for that, but so far, the sweeper leaves a nice lawn, and beats us raking for hours, and hours, and hours.

I ordered this product to replace a 10+ year old older sweeper that was rusting away. Upon receiving this unit I inspected the box and found it to be undamaged and sealed from the factory. Upon opening the box I determined that neither the instructions nor the hardware package was included. I immediately called the manufacturer and spoke with a customer service representative that emailed the instructions and promised the hardware package would be mailed out. After reviewing the instruction maunal I also noted that several other parts were missing. I called their customer service department again, and requested that they send the additional missing parts. The lady I spoke with on the 2nd call told me that there was no record of my first call so had I not called again I would have never gotten the hardware package and instruction manual.I closely inspected what I received in great detail. The frame appears on par with my older sweeper. The gear drive assembly is plastic however so I'm not sure how well this unit will hold up. A close inspection of the bag assembly revealed that this bag is thinner than the bag on my 10+ year old sweeper. The stiching is loose and there are some noticeable areas of the plastic material that are frayed. I found this ironic as this just came out of the box. The metal pieces that support the bag assembly (at least the ones I have on hand) look undersized and cheap. I compared those parts to the old sweeper and found the old unit has metal tubing that is twice the thickness of the new unit.To sum it up, this unit looks cheap. It does have a 3 year warranty but I'm not sure how Agri-Fab will be able to warranty anything that is so cheesy. I wish I had taken my old unit to a sheet metal shop and had them fab up a new housing instead of getting this disgrace of a sweeper.Finally, the instructions seem to leave out some key points, however since I can't assemble the unit until the rest of the parts arrive from the factory, I'm at a stopping point.Amazon: I am a fairly new customer with you. If this is the quality of the merchandise you pander, you have sold your last item to me. I recommend that you remove this piece of junk from your inventory.Since this unit came from the factory without all the parts, its useless until the final parts arrive. Very Frustrating!
