Beautiful
First off, I ordered this as a gift for a friend. seeing as how most knife boxes just pull open into 2 parts i had to give this knife a look. first thing in the box was the sheath which is a very nice leather sheath as the pictures show for the knife. next was the sharpener, and just as the pictures show it has a very nice wood handle. and last of all the knife. after i got it unwrapped in the packing material i was blown away. the weight was great the handle felt perfect in my hands, and design on the blade was just beautiful. on top of the looks this thing came extremely sharp. all in all well worth the money so much so i had to order one for myself.

three year review
What I received was real Damascus, very sharp, well balanced, and holds it's edge very well. I am extremely satisfied and have used this knife quite a bit in the last few days. I even used it to shave the bark off of 4" sweet gum trunks 8' long. It held it's edge and only needed a touch up. I have several bushcraft knives and this one is quickly becoming a favorite.Revision...Three years later this has become my favorite fixed blade for all around use. Perkin is a quality manufacturer of affordable knives. I have knives that are 10Xs more expensive and are not as good. I am not an aficionado, however, I have hundreds of knives. Yes, I am a blade freak, so take my advice as you will. If you want a great all around use fixed blade knife, buy a Perkin. If you want the same in a folding knife buy a Ka-Bar. Both are top quality and priced realistically.

Nice blade, sheath is trash
The knife itself is very nice. It is comfortable to hold and keeps a good edge. The sheath on the other hand is trash. the construction is so so but it was oiled so much that it is flimsy. The oil gets over everything and has an unpleasant odor. Overall it is a good deal but you will want to make your own sheath like I did.

Good Quality and Crafstmanship
Form fit and function of this knife is fantastic. It feels very good in my hand. The overall look of the knife is great. Also the sheath it came with was crafted great. Good Stitching, good fit, no defect. Also I like the fact it came with sharpening steel. The Blade steel is very hard and the sharpening steel will come in handy out in the field. Some have said they replaced the sharpening steel with a fire stick. I have plenty of fire sticks already and only one sharpening steel. The one the knife came with. Thanks Perkin for a great deal.

Okay knife
This knife is okay. I do believe it actually is Damascus steel, you can tell by looking at the edges. This is full tang, it's a little smaller than I'd like but is still a nice size. The knife is strong and well balanced. The handle is also well made and fitted to the knife well. There's really nothing to complain about there. The things that come with the knife though, that's another story.First, that's not a fire stick/ferro rod. That's for trueing the blade. It's the same type of deal as the one you got with your kitchen knife block. It doesn't sharpen, it simply trues the edge when it gets raggedy. Not bad, but kind of pointless. But, get into the habit of two swipes per side of the blade before you use it, and maybe I'll change my mind there. An actual sharpening stone would be good. A ferro rod isn't needed, but would also be a good replacement.Second, and this is the main gripe the sheath is terrible. It absolutely doesn't hold the knife. It's really loose. Also, the belt loop isn't actually part of the sheath. It's a big loop attached to the sheath with a metal buckle. It's useless unless you want it to swing freely at your waist so that it can fall out. It does look nice. It's just not good or useful.Would I buy this again? No. Not unless it was around $25 and came with a better sheath. As it is, the knife is decent but not really nice enough to buy a decent sheath for, so it's all kind of useless. I'll use it around the home I guess.

Big bang for the money
Really like the sheath, and the knife is beautiful. Next I need to see how it does in the field. If you have larger hands the handle may be a bit small. Ive got medium sized hands and it seems a little small, bit I'm very happy overall. Bought one foe my teen age daughter as well. Can't wait to see the look in her eye when she sees it after work

Horrible sheath
The sheath is not crap. I pushed the knife into sheath it and it cut through and cut me. This sheath is not proper for a knife like this. This knife is ok. The full tang looks like it has holes in it and looks cheep.

The knife is great but the stitching on the scabbard is already coming ...
The knife is great but the stitching on the scabbard is already coming out. The end or tip of the knife may have cut them. ???? Initially the scabbard had no defects that I could see.
