A good collection
This collection of rocks and minerals along with a field guide has been very useful in learning the geological makeup of our planet. I would recommend this collection to anyone who is interested in the field of Geology as a hobby.

rock samples unglued
Received the collection with 4 rocks unglued , free in the box. Left torn background paper and residual glue and fragments. Need to return it.

ok as an introductory to rocks for kids.
it is as they say a lot of small rocks in there. they are glued to the paper backing with printed names on the squares. mine had as per other reviews about 4 separated rocks. easily glued back. what concerned me more was that even though the box was in its original shrink plastic wrap the cardboard box looked like it had seen some water damage and rough handling. for the price and as a gift for an 8 yo who is interested in rocks i think its ok, and i did take a chance on this rather than the other more expensive ones simply because they only have numbers stuck to them and a book to tell you what they are from that.

Collectors Opinion - Better Than Expected
As a mineral collector I was glad I ordered this set. It is a great reference set and the samples are of high quality and representative of each mineral in the rough. I feel that the negative reviews on size of samples, quality of the set, loose stones, etc, are largely unfounded. While not as big as those in the set of 50 by this same company (which is great) they are necessarily smaller to fit into a convenient size for the set to be held and examined. The set is in a relatively nice cardboard display box and all but two were firmly attached when I received it. You can't ask much more for the price. It took no time to glue them back on. While you could buy a compartmented display box, I could find none of covienient size for 100 samples, thus the glued format makes sense. I am attaching a list below for those interested. A big hit at the science fair!
My son and I used this out of desperation the day before his science project was due. We didn't even use a third of the sample rocks and he still made a 100. Great info in the pamphlet. Life saver!!!

Very Educational and Entertaining gift idea
Purchased these rocks for my grandson's Christmas and he really loves them. They are not only educational, but also very entertaining. I could not have given my grandson a better gift.

Cheap Cheap
This is extremely cheap and poor product - especially for the price paid! DO NOT - I REPEAT DO NOT - buy this product. Now I know why there wasnt any other pictures available or the ability to enlarge picture of the product. By the angle that the pictures were taken, it gives the appearance that each sample is in some sort of tray or cubicle, when in fact they are merely glued to a piece of paper. Looks like a 6th grader put together this product. Extremely dissatisfied with the product and service with Amazon - they should be ashamed at offering such items. Will NEVER again buy anything from Amazon.
