Works better than I thought it would actually.
It works about as well as the earbuds, just gets a little more confused the faster you go.I found the earbuds were able to keep up just ever so slightly faster. But honestly if you have the earbuds I suggest getting this too, it's often discounted or free with promotions on amazon.I got it for discounted, mostly just to be able to cover more kinds of conversation. Honestly find myself using it almost as much as the earbuds themselves. I work with multiple customers with language barriers and have had success with time kettle stuff pretty much every time. The accuracy is is better than other translator services I've used. They've found the balance between accuracy and speed.Connectivity and sound quality are good, I had one period of like 2 seconds the earbuds paused or were thinking longer than usual, but this has been consistent. Ear buds slightly faster but connectivity is more of a concern. Really hard to say much just trying to hit all the important parts. Overall there's not many things that have gone wrong in my experience. I sell phones and about 60% of our customer base is latino. I've literally made hundreds of dollars thanks to being able to facilitate sales with people who don't even speak the same language as me. Considering I've made my money back already and continue to gain from this product it's hard to complain, translation is definitely worth it for me.If you're on the fence about this I'd have two suggestions.1. If you are a consumer, and just think this is cool, it's a good thing to have I highly suggest it. BUT don't get the earbuds, you might not get the use out of them that you want.2. If you bought the earbuds and have a use-case as well as promotional pricing on this, get it anyway it's worth it because of the different kinds of conversation this device can capture vs. the earbuds. This captures more people.I see a lot of asking about the battery life, and it's absolutely perfect for me. I'm able to pop them out anytime a customer walks in just in case they speak a different language (I've had more than just spanish). I leave them out the entire time customers are in the store, and use them about 1/3 of the time people come in. Then when people leave I pop them back in, and they last for 4-5 days of doing this. Never had them die on me. Also charge fast with usb-c.

Hoped it would work better than Google Translate
So, I bought this in hopes that it would work better than Google Translate on my phone. I know there's ChatGPT but that requires the ability to get the sounds into Chinese characters and then into ChatGPT, and it's a lot more hoops then I'm willing to do.So, I got this thing hoping it would be better than Google Translate. It's a little dongel like device that I figured would be a better mircophone than my phone, it doesn't seem to be... I figured it'd have professional software that could translate better than Google Translate, and it doesn't.In meeting mode, it gets the directions of the speakers correct about 90% of the time, but it only catches a few words, like one or two, here and there. I absolutely can't follow the conversations of my colleagues at work with this thing. I theoretically could ask them to speak more slowly, but they're usually in a hurry at their meetings, wanting to get them overwith quickly, and they're used to FETs not even attending the meetings and they're not speaking too me, or for my benefit, so they're not really concerned about making sure I understand them in these meetings. When I am having a conversation with someone, it's generally simplier to just use Google Translate. Often I use my phone to translate to Chinese and they use their phone to translate to English. Sometimes, with older folks, I'll allow them to use my phone to translate from Chinese to English for us.This dongle doesn't fit my phone with the cover on, and I don't want to walk around without my phone in a case... I've dropped my phone more than a few times, and msot of my smartphones, and this one's been saved by the case more than a few times. In fact, I just put it in a new case because the old case was busted from a fall when I was walking and stepped into a shallow hole made by a construction crew and fell over. I was walking where I've walked many times before, but looking up directions to a place I've never been and stepped into the shallow hole. It was dumb on my part and I'm glad I didn't get seriously hurt... but... point is, I don't like carrying my phone around without it's case, so I'm not going to remove the case and plug this device in for quick conversations with shopkeepers or a quick chat with a neighbor.I don't mind so much removing my case and plugging in the device and setting it on a table while I'm in a meeting, if the thing work. But it doesn't. So, I feel like it's a rather large waste of money at this point.

Promising product, but it just doesn't work.
This is a reasonably well designed product and I really wanted to like it, but it simply doesn't work.. at least not for the language I needed it for. First, I need to bring up a bit of a design flaw.. the Zero will not plug into the iPhone with any case on it.. they need to make the lightning connector a bit longer. As it is, even the thinnest case I had prevented the use of the device, so either you have to use a lightning extension cable (which is what I did) or pop the phone out of the case every time you want to use the Zero. Now, the main problem was that the translation wasn't accurate.. in fact it was WAY off. I had a chance to try this with several people who spoke different languages than me.. I tried Portuguese, Czech, French and Hungarian. I tried several modes.. simultaneous, touch, interview, etc. The translations weren't just bad, they were TERRIBLE. And I tried many different ways of positioning the microphone. When trying, we spoke carefully and slowly, as well as just speaking naturally. It got the translation right maybe 20% of the time, and even then it was only somewhat right. Google translate does a far superior job for free in comparison.. which is really disappointing. I wanted it to work. Oh well.I subsequently decided to try another device which shall remain nameless except to say it fits in your pocket and the difference was absolutely striking. I went from most translations being wrong, to most translations being right, or at least in the ballpark of what was said.

Compact Translator with Big Power
Handy little device for quick translations. Works well with accents and has decent voice recording. Best used with earlier iPhones.
