It’s made in the USA. Yes, the blades are removable.

Q: will it work for oranges or harder stuff easily?

well I slice raw potatoes and onions...ripe tomatoes are too soft but the harder ones slice....all I can say is I love it

Q: Would this be good for shredding potatoes for hash browns and shredding blocked cheese?

Yes but you would need to get the 55200AN-1 (3/16") or -2 (5/16")

Q: Are the blades supposed to wobble? They seem loose even though the screws are tight. Also, one blade rubs agains the safety guard. Is this normal?

The slight wobble and the closeness of the blade to the guard is normal with these slicers.
