Great sound and quality built
I’ve been a huge fan of Altec Lansing audio for years now and I bought a small speaker from them years ago “life jacket “ and it’s still going strong but I needed to get me something a little bigger and more powerful!! This speaker really does the job!! It has great sound wits built with quality and the sound is so clear without distortion even at full volume!! If you want a speaker that is compact but definitely a crowd pleaser or a party then please buy this and I promise you that you won’t regret it!! It’s so worth buying!!

Great Altec Lansing product.
Great sound and battery life. Like the lights too. Good boombox. Wish I could attach a strap to it.

Recommended (with new unit and further review)
Edit two weeks later - Up front I can recommend this speaker. I have had it near a month now. Confess I have not listened to it as much as I probably should have. But I turned it on today and was pleasantly met with good sound. Perhaps stepping away for a few days was a good idea to clear my ears LOL.Stereo is one big reason for liking this one. A mono speaker just irritates me for some reason. Clean sound for both bass and treble. I haven't seen side by side comparisons for portable Bluetooth speakers in stereo. My comparison is for many years of having my own stereos and listening to music since I was a kid.I'm raising from one star to four (5 stars would require having this longer and feeling very confident about longevity) for the following reasons: I was shipped a new one which went smoothly, customer service was good. This works very good as a TV speaker. Just connect your auxiliary cable to and from. Note you can't control the volume remotely. You have to get up and adjust the speaker manually. With Bluetooth connectivity yes you can control the volume for playing music for example from your cell phone.Turning on the loudness option (additional bass), is something I will be doing every time. Note every time you turn it on, the volume resets to 50% and the loudness option is off. I have been listening to music all my life, the additional base setting provides a much better balance with trouble, whether high volume or low, but especially at low volume.Playing at about 70% volume, fills my slightly rectangular approx. 20 ft by 15 ft living room up certainly past conversational levels. 50% is a good volume and you can carry on a conversation. Going from 70% to 100% is really almost like a 40 to 50% increase in volume. From 0% to 70% is sort of like regular acceleration on a car. 70 to 100% would be like when you step on it to pass a Mack truck LOL.Listening to a blues song right now, the bass guitar comes through clear, and the guitar, symbols, conga drums, and other travel items come through equally clear. At lower volumes, the bass setting is a requirement to ensure that you get some depth. It still sounds good actually.Don't compare pre-80's recordings, because they (many-to-most) were recorded with less bass. You start getting into the 80s, 90s and 2000s, the bass is much more rich. The bright red volume LED (much brighter on "bass" option) is still annoying sitting in front of your face. I cover it up.Crackling noise I heard on one song was duplicated on another Bluetooth device, so I don't think it was this speaker. I suggest turn off any app equalizer. I think my Spotify app was causing high volume compression, that loud quiet loud quiet annoying issue when set at max volume.-------- Review from two weeks prior --------Do not recommend. I've had stereos and music all my life. My initial impression was good overall, but has since gone downhill...The first one I ordered was dead on arrival. Initially I would say that the sound was good overall. I actually did an entire video review but maybe I just won't post it. I got another one a few days later and had my son listen to it. He rated it lousy because at maximum volume the volume would fluctuate up and down. I just got through testing it a few minutes ago and it did have the same problem with volume fluctuating.Running Spotify app flat, the speaker produces high treble. You must have the single option, bass on or off, turned on at all times. This is a large bulky item in depth. It has the handle strangely toward the front and does not allow for your hand to wrap around. Your fingers get cramped up against the plastic in an odd carrying way. It's fairly heavy, appears to be built well, I mean if it can float in the water. But who's going to do that? Your 15-year-old who hangs out in the pool once in awhile?I noted if you want good booming sound, you have to have it up all the way. The first one I had, it sounded good but would only work when it was plugged into AC power.

Lansing is the l in JBL
I'm not an influencer and I'm not trying to convince anybody to buy this product but the mix 2.0 works awesome! Has a really affordable price and it's bulletproof and waterproof.. I'll put it this way I spent a bunch of money on the SOUNDBOKS which is a lot bigger.. I wished I hadn't spent that much money when you can buy this one for around $100 or less and it sounds just as good it might not go to 121 DB but it is plenty loud! Anybody want to buy a soundboks?

Battery no longer holds a charge after 2 years.
This speaker was amazing for 2 years, and now it no longer holds a charge, you have to keep it plugged in, in order to use the PORTABLE, FLOATING IN WATER speaker. There’s no way to replace the battery since they do not make the parts available. This thing is basically useless now. Never buying from Altec again. I’m getting a Bose next time.

Great speaker
I have 2 of these speakers for my 73 inch toolbox and they work great. I pair them together and they are super loud. Battery life seems to be good when I move them around. Be careful about forgetting the chord in the charging port. I did and it broke the charger off. Luckily I was able to fix it and it works like a champ again

Trash. Not waterproof.
I absolutely wanted to love these. I bought two of them so that I could link them and toss them in the river or pool while paddle boarding or hanging out with friends. I bough the used like new options with damaged packaging, units were perfect upon arrival. I use them on mine and my wife’s paddle board so that we can enjoy full sounding music while on long trips down the river. Worked fine and lasted all weekend listening to music. They are fine for splashes and light submersion. DO NOT toss this in the pool thinking it’s waterproof. They absolutely are not. In a kayak or on a board they are fine. I linked two together one night at a friend’s house and tossed them in the pool with the leds glowing and in about two hours both of them shorted out and glitched. I brought them home and took them apart dried them out and cleaned them up. Luckily they both work fine after drying them. As I was putting them back together I put a bead of silicone along the seam they do not leak any longer. The sound quality is ok at lower volumes. Decent bass and hours of playtime. But…. As soon as you turn the volume up over 75% the mids and highs clip out and dip in volume so the amp can handle the bass. They are heavy which is to be expected with the size of speakers and battery needed to run this unit for hours on end. The weight wouldn’t bother me if there was some kind of shoulder strap instead of the small awkward handles that hurt your fingers as soon as you pick it up. Poorly thought out device, trash build quality, and if I hadn’t got them for $60 each because of package being damaged I would have returned them. I kept them because they are durable now that I’ve sealed them up myself. They are decent sounding at moderate volume and link up for stereo sound which is a bonus. They are worth it if you want to dissect them, seal them and find them on sale. Otherwise save your money and get a name brand Bluetooth speaker. Just remember,If it’s cheap…. It’s cheap
