Great for fine details
Update 3 months:Pen is still very fluid and the tip hasn’t dried out. No need to use the included extra tip just yet. I admit I’ve only used it a few times, but it’s been very reliable in each use and works as expected each time. I don’t have to fiddle with it or fight with it to get it working again, it just works.I do recommend picking up like a rubber cement eraser as this being for small fine detail masking can be tedious and rough on your fingers to remove if you’ve done a lot of masking spots.Original review:This masking pen works great for smaller detail areas. This pen isn’t going to be your one stop do all. You will still need a regular ol bottle for covering larger areas. It did take some getting used to as it seemed to be goin on too thin to work, but the thinner covered areas masked as well as the thicker and multiple applied areas, and removed MUCH easier. I experienced no ripping or tearing of my 100% cotton Hot-press and cold-press papers. I haven’t tested on cellulose papers. Will update on longevity of the pen.

Works great with alcohol markers
I bought this for alcohol markers art work. I knew there was a chance it may not work bc it isn't made to use with marker. I was happy to see it worked really well. There was no issues at all. I will keep using this for future pieces

Non Stinky
I can't stand the smell of rubber resist. Or the sound of a needle applicator on paper. This is like using a paint marker, but less stinky. My favorite resist.

Not very happy with this
Maybe I need some practice with it, but it seems to dry while you’re using it, as it doesn’t come out thick enough and the area you’re trying to cover isn’t covered so while going back over the area, you’re rubbing off dried masking fluid.Absolutely could be user error, but if that’s the case, then there should’ve been better instructions or maybe a video attached.

Sooooo goooooood!
I did a test piece and was impressed. The point is a little thick for detailed work though. To the Company: Please make some of these with a super fine point soon! Sell a set with varying tips! Please because this one is GREAT!Detail: Does everything I need well:1) draws curves and transitions curve to straight to curve and the masking fluid stream stays steady. The light blue tint of the mask very helpful so you can see what you’re doing, and it makes removing the mask a true ‘reveal’ and more fun :)2) The mask dries SUPER FAST, almost immediate.3) That said, I let the mask overall dry for five hours (in part to let water color dry), and the mask still came off super easy with a rubber/gum eraser (also bought on Amazon) without damaging paper/surrounding art. 7-3-22 update: I let the mask dry for THREE DAYS (out of sun) and was still able to remove 100% with gum eraser, but it did take a bit more gum eraser pressure, but doable. There was extensive masking, all removed.4) I’ve tested the mask with water color, water color pencil, color pencil, and what I noticed is that pencil can be a bit tricky because you can rub off mask with pencil, so gentle only up to the edge for pencil work. I also used a mineral oil blender over the pencil by the masked line just to see if the line would hold - and the mask worked fine, didn’t dissolve. THERE WAS NO BLEEDING WHATSOEVER. I got the water color so wet that the water formed a little water globe next to the line, but the color still did not spill over (or under) mask line. I purposely put yellow on one side of the mask line and blue on the other side of the mask line, just to see if I got any green anywhere, and there was none. Wow. Bottom line is this mask is pretty durable! I think a little less durable than the Pebeo bottled mask when it comes to doing colored pencil work.5) Clean up? There isn’t any. Just put the cap back on the mask marker. Amazing!6) Not so sure how long the masking pen will last, but as per its instructions, I stored it horizontal and it didn’t dry up after around one week without using. It’s early days on that test, too soon to tell.Based on the ease of use, great performance under my ‘endurance’ test, and ease of clean up, this is a buy for this price. The only hesitation is will the pen last on the shelf/how many applications can it do? Can’t answer that -yet -but so far this is a definite 5 star!
