flies will not even go near it
I remember a decade ago buying something similar at the feed n seed in Idaho. The fly 'bait', was a liquid, that looked and smelled just like runny scat. Still, drippings that on the sticky 'trap, attracted flies like crazy. In one day, surrounded by cow fields in summer, these, twice as long btw, would be so full of lies you could not see the gold pole. Now? The 'fly bait', little green crystals to put on the sticky gold pole, repels flys, actually all bugs. None of them want a thing to do with it. While, same company i think, the clear window trap adhesives caught dozens of flies and a bunch of tiny somethings, after 3 days this has caught 2. Two flies. They don't want anything to do with it.Do not buy this. I even set another one up without using the 'bait crystals' on it, and in two days will not show even one fly/other. They , I bet, are made with chemicals that deter catching bugs. Waste of time/money. Get the clear, as in strips, that go on the windows. These are a total waste of time n money. \Why are they even selling these?

I live in Florida
These work great I placed one by my front door. I have re ordered these bc they catch a lot of flys. I started using them 3/23 and I reorder them again 7/19/23I read some other reviews so I want to give feedback on 7/30/23 it's 730pm. You need to think what type of fly am I catching,? I ask this bc if you live in another state you need to ask your computer for example you live in a Farmland so what kinda food do farmland flys like? The box comes with Pellets wait two weeks after installing these pellets. I also used a white shoelace to hang it bc there wasn't any thing to hang it with. Be creative were you are. I used the skins from Pineapple I was throwing out and I placed a little on top and the bottom.

Don't work in the midwest
I just recently moved to a small town in Missouri and the house flies are absolutely ridiculous, just thousands of them everywhere. I'm not sure what the reason is, maybe because of all the farmland surrounding the town? Anyway, I regularly get a fly or two zipping around inside my house as well as the office where I work, being a total nuisance. The ones here in the midwest seem to be smarter than those in other areas, because they're completely uninterested in this trap. Maybe they can sense the superficiality in the scent or something, but they don't find it attractive in the least- they're much more interested in any food I might be eating. The adhesive seems good at least, only reason I know is because I managed to hit one with the trap once out of frustration, and it stuck pretty permanently. But what's the point in good adhesive if the flies never land on it? These traps didn't work for me at all, unfortunately.

Over 3 weeks caught a few fruit flies and no regular flies
If fruit flies are you problem this trap will catch some at a modest rate. For me over three weeks it caught some fruit flies and no regular flies, while nearby a different brand of fly trap I purchased here on Amazon filled with dead and dying flies, and some yellow sticky yellow cardboard traps I also purchased here on Amazon caught a great number of fruit flies. Everything is good about this trap except its ability to catch flies. I bought four of them. I'm about to throw three of them away. I almost never, ever review anything unless it works very well, but for the sake of hygiene and food safety, feel I must post this one.

Best fly catcher out there
Shhhhhh don't let word spread too much, these are already getting harder to find..but...these are hands down the best fly catchers around. I havd tried a handful of others but none of those really work, these are awesome. They catch flys, gnats, fruit flies, even the occassional moth!.You can keep it in the box and hang the box or set it on a shelf or window sill or you can pull it out of the box. I keep mine in the box and set it in a window sill and when the top gets full or dusty, i spin it a little so a new side is up.Used these during a bad year where lots of flies were getting in then couldn't find them for a year or 2 that's when I tried several others, so glad to have found them again. Our neighbor has horses, so we get fun biting flies inside....
