Favorite basic flashlight! ON-OFF, simple very bright, WORKS!!!
I am a flashlight addict, There I admitted it....! This flashlight I have bought many times and leave them all over. They are cheap. Well constructed. Use a single 18650 battery. Buy panasonic 18650 lithium batteries, don't go cheap. Charge lasts a very long time. They are bright and last hours. And the best of all, it is ON or OFF!!!!!!!! No multiple modes to fumble thru, no strobe to blind you, it just works. Keep a spare battery in a zip lock sandwich bag in your coat pocket if you are a heavy user. It is my favorite everyday use flashlight. Only maintenance is clean threads with a isopropyl alcohol soaked Q-tip once a year. Charge battery every 6 months of no use, set a reminder on your calender. This is a KISS flashlight....

Bright light with a single click.
Simple to operate single-mode, good bright light near and far, excellent all around for a very small price.First off, I LOVE the single mode. I absolutely despise the five mode with two different blinking settings that most of these inexpensive Cree LED lights have. Outdoors or in a stress situation, I want bright light instantly without having to fiddle with it. This fits that bill perfectly. It's also by far the brightest XM-L flashlight I've purchased, and works well for distance and for near, wide area. It's so bright that if I had to fault it for anything, I would say the brightness can sometimes be overwhelming indoors. It is bright enough to affect your night vision bouncing back off of walls and other objects, but that means it's also good at overwhelming other's night vision, should that be your objective. All that brightness means higher current draw than others, which will of course come at the expense of run time. This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. I've been using it with EBL 18650's and have not found the run time to be an issue (and hey- they're rechargeable). It does get a little warm when used continuously for an extended period, but not to the point of danger or discomfort.I can't quantify the brightness, but I've bought numerous 502B style flashlights and a number of C8's and several zoom type ones over the last couple years. The distance throw is as good or better than all of the the C8 style and much better than the LE® 1000lm Rechargeable CREE XM-L2 T6 zoom light of which I have several. The C8 style are generally good at long distance throw, but I find them lousy for anything else. This one is great at all ranges. As a few others have mentioned, it projects at two ranges simultaneously with a mild cutoff between them, but it works fine and provides good distance throw and very usable near range at the same time. Unlike the LE zoomable ones, you have great peripheral illumination when looking in the distance too. The LE when focused for distance narrows to a small bright square with a really sharp cutoff. I bought this one at the same time as a FIXED Star 502B Tactical T6 LED, which is also single mode. The Skysted is quite a bit brighter, and the fit and finish are much better on this as well.

Good quality, simple, maybe too simple. Satisfied customer.
Very bright with an 18650 battery installed (not included). Seems to be well made and the battery fits well. I gave minus 1 star because I've never been able to find the perfect flashlight. Either they have too many or too little modes, the modes are activated or changed in a weird way, or flexibility on battery type is not good. The good and the bad of this light is it has one mode. It's good because it's simple. The bad is because it's always on "high" mode and I can imagine a 10 watt Cree LED is going to suck up the juice pretty quick on a 9 watt-hour 18650 battery. I'm not sure if it operates on the full 10 watts, so maybe the battery life is better than expected. I have done no tests on that. No focus, which makes it simple. The beam shape is good for general use. Battery type is flexible with an 18650 lithium or two CR123A lithium. Two battery types is a nice feature not seen in all lights. I recommend it if the features listed above suit you. I'd say it's great for general use if you're not too far away from a charger or do not use it for extended periods. As an emergency light, it might not be the best option if the battery drains quickly. I see it as a good utility light or tactical light where performance matters over longevity. For an emergency light I would prefer something with a high and low mode, just those two (Good luck finding that). Who the heck needs a strobe and SOS mode? I've seen that on other lights. That's what my second hand is for.
