A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing
This is a sophisticated, enterprise-grade AIO in a home office package. In addition to the usual functions (print, scan, fax) it has high-end features such as scan-to-Email and SNMP management. I have it running in a mixed environment (Macs, PCs with Windows 7 and 10) and it works flawlessly. Setup is easy with the web interface, just plug it in with a network cable and find the assigned IP address. As with all printers, I recommend setting either a static IP address or a DHCP reservation. As pointed out by a previous reviewer, the most annoying thing with this printer is the status page that prints automatically every time the printer is plugged in. This is easy to fix (again, see previous review); go to Properties->System->Setup and uncheck "Print status report at startup" at the bottom. (Default user name is admin, default password is 1111). You should also update the firmware (obtained from the Xerox website and updated via the web interface).I have not experienced the errors printing under Windows 7 mentioned by other reviewers. I've had no problems whatsoever. Even prints from our iPhones using AirPrint. Again, get the latest drivers from the Xerox website -- the included CD is 4 years old. This printer originally sold for $300+. It's a deal at $200 and a steal at $100.

Great little printer/copier & how to turn off Configuration Page printing
I have always used "Inkjet" type printers thinking that anything "laser" would be too expensive. This changed my mind. It was a very good price, comparable with Inkjet printers. And the fastest from turning on to printing/copying I have ever used. I will admit to being a bit worried about the reviews I read saying it was not user friendly, hard to set up, etc. I opened the box, followed the setup instruction sheet and it was very easy. The trick to the toner cartridge and avoiding a messy toner spill is just to take your time. I put a piece of copier paper under the toner cartridge and pulled the sealing tape very slowly. The spill was no more than you would get from one shake of a pepper shaker. I inserted the setup CD into my computer and just followed instructions, it asked if I wanted to set it up using WiFi and I answered yes. You have to plug the USB cable in for a few minutes while it sends info back and forth from the computer to the printer/copier and then it was complete. You unplug and you are ready to go. I followed another reviewer's suggestion about turning off the "configuration page" and it was very easy to do... (Note that it is possible to turn off the Configuration Report from the LCD on the printer itself. Go to: System Setup > Machine Setup > Conf. Page, press "OK" and select the "OFF" option). Right inside your owner/operator manual it shows the top of the printer/copier with all the buttons... it will show you which one to press for System Setup. Since I have only had it 1 day I will review again after using it for a little while, but am not expecting any troubles.

It's not super-easy to setup, but it is doable.
I just recently received this unit and I haven't had a lot of time with it. So, my reviews may change. However, this is what I think about this printer as of this date:1.) It doesn't have the easiest setup, but is in line with similar printers. The onscreen prompts are not great. They are irritating and not as comprehensive as I would like. Also, the printed instructions are not great. However, you can figure out most of via the "printer webpage." Which allowed me to setup features that seemed impossible on the printer itself. That is easier than what I have experienced in the past.2.) Save yourself the trouble - use ethernet!-Setting up a printer via wifi is a pain. A real pain! Setting up a wired printer is easy! If your printer is close enough to your router - then please use ethernet!!!! You will be glad that you did. And yes, you can print via wifi if your printer is wired. It doesn't matter.3.) Why in the world is printing every time that I turn it on!- One thing that I have not figured out how to turn off yet is each time I turn it on - it prints a test page. Wasting paper and annoying me. I have yet to figure out how to stop that.4.) Finally, damn the print outs look great!-I haven't done much yet with it, but I have to say that I love the quality of the print. It's been so long since I have had a new printer that forgot how beautiful laser printers can be. Even if it is monochrome. It is wonderful! That alone is worth the price of admission. With the scan and fax features on top of it - it's nearly perfect. It's not for everyone. Know what you're getting into before you buy. Then you'll be fine.
